WWE remembers Montreal Screwjob & More
With WWE hitting on the “Hitman”, is Vince feeling guily. On WWE.com they have a few photos of the “Montreal Screwjob” way back when.
This event happened on Survivor Series on November 9, 1997 at the Molson Centre (now Bell Centre) in Montreal, Canada. This screwjob in wrestling terms happened when HBK had Hart in a sharp shooter (Bret’s signature move). By orders of Vince McMahon, Earl Hebner, referee for this match, called for the bell even thou Bret had not submitted. HBK was declared the winner by submission and the new WWF Champion.
The rest is history.
Way back when Viince was already in the business ( he had purchased WWF silently from his father) about three plus years he was running it while out any one knowing, except for Bret Hart.
Also WWE has the complete match of Bret Hart VS Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997, the birth place of the “Screwjob” in Montreal. Click here.
