TNA Signee, John Cena says WWE “Not A Sport”
-Wrestling Observer reports: TNA has signed Akira Raijin of All Japan Pro Wrestling to a two-year contract.
-The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has got an article on the Buzz around news today. John Cena was at Motor Speedway this passed Sunday.
In his interview, John Cena says its not a sport, but it’s entertainment for a good paying customers, but we get beat up. Here is what AJC says:
-WWE meets NASCAR Carl Edwards raced to victory Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway with one particularly muscular fan cheering him on. World Wrestling Entertainment star John Cena was among the huge crowd at the racetrack in Hampton.
“Carl’s my driver,” he said early Sunday afternoon, when it still looked like it might be points leader Jimmie Johnson’s day. Edwards and Cena met through their work with the Gillette brand. Edwards invited Cena to a race, and he’s been hooked ever since.
“NASCAR is such a fan-friendly sport,” Cena said. “It’s certainly exciting to see a race unfold. It’s like a finely tuned match.”
As for the folks who say drivers aren’t athletes, he’s not hearing it.
“People don’t realize the endurance these guys have to have for a 500-mile race,” he said.
As for his own line of work?
“It’s not a sport,” Cena conceded. “It’s for the good graces of our paying customers. What we do is entertainment —- but we do get beat up.”
