Should Wrestlers Be Actors?

It is widely known that Vincent K. McMahon sees the potential wrestlers have in bringing publicity into the WWE by doing outside projects, such as movies and music videos.
Surprisingly, his father, Vincent J. McMahon did not feel the same way. Vincent Sr. was the one that originally hired Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan. Two years after Hogan started his run with the WWF, he was fired by Vincent Sr. Hogan had been personally invited by Sylvester Stallone to have a part in Rocky III. When Hogan politely asked for permission, Vincent J. said “no”. He firmly believed that wrestlers should remain wrestlers and should not be actors.
Shortly after Vince Jr. bought the company from his father, he brought Hogan back and allowed him to pursue other avenues of medium, such as movies and even allowed him to voice the popular Saturday morning cartoon show, Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n Wrestling.
Vince has gone on to allow wrestlers such as The Rock, John Cena and now Stone Cold Steve Austin to act in movies, even starting his own production studio in order to launch these movie careers.
What do you think: do you believe that wrestlers should be allowed to act or are you on Vincent Sr.’s side and feel that they should stay just wrestlers?

I’m all for wrestlers acting if they can truly act (outside of the ring). I’d watch The Rock or Stone Cold in a movie any day!

When Dwayne Johnson “The Rock” first starred in a movie “The Mummy 2″ with Brendan Fraiser I thought this man needs a few more lessons even thou it was a small part he did very well. But see now he does not wrestle any more..Go FIGURE.

I think the Rock is a good actor. He’s got great comedic timing. There are people in the WWE that I just cringe when they hand them a microphone, but others have some potential. The forced love triangles and such always make me squirm. In a way, wrestlers are already actors because they have to be the “bad guy” or the “good guy” and have some pretty ridiculous story lines to pull off.

Yeah but you got to think about it, does acting take a part in wrestling. Like is wresting a “sport” or is it “sports entertainment”, this i am going to ponder about…

A lot of these wrestlers are pretty decent actors (Kevin Nash, Steve Austin, the Rock, Triple H to name a few).
If musicians and athletes can capitalize on their fame and branch out, I don’t see why wrestlers shouldn’t either.

Yeah, Jack I believe you ae right but if you see Vince K. McMahon in his own beliefs he wants to keep wrestling a good sport. Making sure wrestling is a “pure” as you can get it.If you start braching it out doing too many things can result into lots of problems.Wrestling and Acting are two different gendres. If you think about wrestling has a storyline to it, so doesn’t acting. But I believe Vince Sr. wanted to keep wrestling to a little “real” point of view. So Vince Jr. has blown everything “way out” of porportion. Ig the wrestlers Start out acting thats awesome but mixing the two, Vince Jr. is making $$$ out of descent men and women that could do this out on their own.
