Official Smackdown Preview: ‘Modern love’

It’s a severe understatement to say that former World Heavyweight Champion Edge is upset about losing the title to CM Punk when the Straightedge Superstar cashed in his Money in the Bank opportunity. But the Ultimate Opportunist has another chance at fixing some gold around his waist when he takes on WWE Champion Triple H at The Great American Bash.

After a fight with his fiancée, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero, Edge said he’ll make his championship run alone. Will the WWE Universe see a wedding on Friday? Or did the Rated-R Superstar mean it when he suggested calling the whole thing off?

Also on SmackDown, Michelle McCool emerged victorious in a Golden Dreams Match against Cherry, Kelly Kelly, Victoria and Maryse. The All-American Diva will face Natalya to determine who will be the first-ever Divas Champion. Will SmackDown’s top Diva, as voted by the WWE Universe, hold the gold? Or will Friday night’s newcomer, the third-generation beauty, continue her successful sports-entertainment career?

United States Champion Matt Hardy further proved he is worthy of the title, overcoming Mr. Kennedy, Chavo Guerrero and Shelton Benjamin in a Fatal Four Way Match and allowing him to keep the gold on ECW. Is the United States Championship on Tuesday nights to stay?

Umaga continued his dominant ways since bulldozing his way from Raw. Will anybody be able to get in his path and slow him down?
