WWE® Superstar John Cena® to co-host at Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2008

August 13, 2008
WWE Superstar, hip hop musician and actor, John Cena, has been confirmed to co-host at Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 on Saturday 11th October at Hisense Arena, Melbourne Park.

John has been nominated in the Fave Sports Star category at this year’s awards, up against Aussie sporting legends Casey Stoner and Grant Hackett and American skating genius, Ryan Sheckler.

Amongst notable achievements in his WWE career, John Cena is a three-time WWE Champion, a three-time United States Champion, and a two-time World Tag Team Champion. Having completed his first feature film, The Marine, in 2006, John will also star in 12 Rounds in 2009. And in the upcoming pay-per-view SummerSlam® on August 18, Cena will be taking on Batista for the 1st time ever!

Speaking today about his nomination - and presenting duties alongside Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 host Natalie Bassingthwaighte - John said ‘I couldn’t pass up the awesome opportunity to present at the Australian KCAs. Especially since I’ll get to hang with my Aussie fans, hopefully take home an orange blimp and score a SmackDown® by sliming Rove…life doesn’t get any better. !!’

Voting is now open across a total of 19 categories and with an expanded range of television categories including Fave International TV Star, Fave Reality Show, Fave Action, Music, Comedy, Drama Show, this year’s awards promises to be filled with more stars, slime and messy goo than ever before.

Rove McManus, nominated for Fave TV Star said earlier today about his nomination, “As a slime connoisseur it is always an honour to be nominated for the KCA. I hope I will be there on the orange carpet and if I see Andrew G he is going down in a blaze of belches.”

Fave Female Singer of 2007, Ricki-Lee is nominated again this year, ‘”I’m SO flattered and SO, SO, SO excited to be nominated again in TWO categories for the second year in a row! I was overseas having a break when I found out I was nominated, and I was on an absolute high for the rest of the trip - it was THE BEST news I could have been told! Nominated or not, the Nickelodeon KCA’s is always my fave outing of the year, so to have a chance at taking an award home only makes the 2008 ceremony all the more FUN!!!!” said Ricki-Lee.

To vote for their favourite stars, television shows, songs and movies kids can go to www.nickelodeon.com.au and have their say. Voting opens Monday August 11 and runs until September 21 across a total of 19 categories.

Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards has emerged as one of the biggest events in Australia, boasting massive audience participation. Now in its sixth year it is the only televised kids awards show in Australia that gives kids the power to vote for their favourites and honours their opinions with a show filled with the stars they love.
