Friday Night Smackdown 3/30/07 Results

The last televised WWE production before Wrestlemania (I’m not counting the Hall of Fame induction because there won’t be any wrestling in it!) was a good show, but frankly I expected better as it’s in WWE’s best interest to hold a great Smackdown in order to get everyone to purchase the PPV.
The show started with Edge coming out and blathering about how he’s going to win the Money in the Bank ladder match. After his scheduled opponent, Matt Hardy, comes out, Edge says that he’s not going to risk getting injured before Wrestlemania and so has found a replacement…the Great Khali!
Match 1: Matt Hardy VS The Great Khali
Results: The two slammed each other around for a short time before Kane appeared on the stage and the words “TWO MORE DAYS” showed up on the Titon Tron. No winner in this match.
Match 2: Finlay VS Mr. Kennedy
Results: Mr. Kennedy tried to up his winning chances by dragging an industrial sized ladder into the ring near the end of the match, but Finlay comes out the victor in the end using his Celtic Cross.
Match 3: Ethiopian World Champion Beto Entemungo vs. MVP
Results: MVP takes him out quick and taunts Benoit by using his Triple German Suplexes.
Match 4: Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
Results: Some serious action coming from these two but it all ends when Edge interferes and starts beating up Hardy. Orton had none of it and when he got in Edge’s face about it, it distracted Orton enough that Hardy was able to pin him for the win.
Match 5: Ashley, Candice Michelle, Maria, Mickie James, and Torrie Wilson vs. Jillian, Kristal, Michelle McCool, WWE Women’s Champion Melina, and Victoria
Results: Puhleeze. T&A MATINEE all the way with so much going on in the ring it was hard to tell who’s parts belonged to whom! Ashley, Candice Michelle, Maria, Mickie James and Torrie Wilson “won” this one.
Match 6: CM Punk vs. King Booker
Results: CM Punk comes out with a surprisingly good match and manages to pin Booker for the win.
Hopefully Wrestlemania 23 is a better show than Smackdown was this week!
