Intercontinental Championship Match
(WWE Universe chooses Santino Marella’s opponent)

Will Santino Marella’s “Honk-a-Meter” tally it’s final Honk at Cyber Sunday? It’s all up to you, the WWE Universe, as you cast your vote to determine who the Italian Stallion must face to defend his Intercontinental Championship. The best part? You get to choose from the following three WWE Legends:

Text PIPER to 44993 for “Rowdy” Roddy Piper
Text GOLDUST to 44993 for Goldust
Text HONKY to 44993 for Honky Tonk Man

To call Santino’s championship run a little “improbable” is like calling Italian meatballs a little “filling.” Nearly as improbable, the Intercontinental Champion has devised the aforementioned “Honk-a-Meter,” a device used to compare the number of weeks Santino has held the Intercontinental Championship as opposed to the title reign of the Honky Tonk Man, who held the gold for a record 64 weeks.

Santino has much to fear from any of these three WWE Legends, all former Intercontinental Champions. Santino’s history with WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper is well documented since the Rowdy one has had several run-ins with his Italian nemesis. The freak show that is Goldust presents his own set of, um, “unique” challenges for Santino. As for the Honky Tonk Man, the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE History has all the motivation necessary to pull the plug on Santino’s “Honk-a-Meter.”

Which of these three former Intercontinental Titleholders will face off against the spicy Italian when Cyber Sunday rolls around? The choice is up to you, WWE Universe. Choose wisely.

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho vs. Batista
(WWE Universe chooses referee)

For months, Batista has had one thing on his mind: Winning the World Heavyweight Championship. At Cyber Sunday, the one day of the year where you, our fans of the WWE Universe, are in control, The Animal will have a chance to win the title when he faces World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho in a match officiated by a referee of YOUR choosing.

Text ORTON to 44993 for Randy Orton
Text AUSTIN to 44993 for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
Text HBK to 44993 for Shawn Michaels

After arriving on Raw as a part of the 2008 WWE Draft, The Animal immediately set his sights on new World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, and though he dominated matches against the Straightedge Superstar, the title always eluded him. More recently, Batista struggled with another former World Heavyweight Champion, JBL, as both of them believed themselves uniquely worthy of competing for the title. At No Mercy, The Animal demolished JBL with a Batista Bomb, becoming the No. 1 contender to Jericho’s title.

Batista comes to the battle at Cyber Sunday viewing the World Heavyweight Champion not just as another competitor, but as a hated enemy. In the first ever World Heavyweight Championship Scramble, The Animal had all but sealed his victory, after laying out and pinning Kane with moments to spare. But in the final seconds of the contest, the cagey Chris Jericho dragged himself across the Big Red Monster, still lying prone from The Animal’s attack, to score the final pinfall and become the World Heavyweight Champion.

When these two ring warriors collide at Cyber Sunday, the referee presiding over the contest will be a Superstar capable of swinging the match in either athlete’s favor. It could be Shawn Michaels, who narrowly lost a World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match to the conniving Jericho at No Mercy. Or perhaps the recuperating Randy Orton, who plans on seizing the title for himself as soon as he is fully recovered. It might even be the legendary Texas Rattlesnake, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, making a rare appearance in the ring. It’s all up to you, the WWE Universe, as you text your votes in from now up until the night of Cyber Sunday.

What the hell… AN UPDATE???

That’s right Warriors. Unfortunately it’s not good news though as NWE have put the release of “Resolution: The Return Of The Ultimate Warrior” DVD on hold citing technical difficulties.

The DVD which was due for release in September was to feature four hours of footage from the two NWE shows in Madrid and Barcelona featuring Warrior’s match with Orlando Jordan and the angle that led up to it, interviews, backstage footage and other extras.

While the DVD hasn’t been cancelled outright, NWE are refunding money to people who preordered the DVD while also sending out the NWE shirts that were to accompany it.

Here are some of the highlights from Ericʼs interview on the show, provided by The Mayhem’s show correspondent, Dan Kriegbaum:

The Mayhem’s Mosh & Blade welcomed Eric back to the show, and right off the bat, began to catch up & respectively discuss what Eric would like instead of a plaque for his 2007 Wrestling Radio Awards “Media Interview Of The Year” (co-hosted by The Mayhem’s National Correspondent & Eric’s former WCW colleague, Scott Hudson). Possibly some Sweet Sunshine Sauces, and/or Ilio DiPaolo’s Marinara Sauces: both fully-endorsed by Monday Night Mayhem.

Switching gears & onto business, Eric then said that he & the others involved in “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” are excited & anticipating the debut on CMT in two weeks on Saturday night, October 18th (airing at 8PM ET/7PM CT). He added that it could be a “game-changer” for them, so they are “waiting with baited breath.
”

Mosh prefaced the last time Eric Bischoff & Hulk Hogan worked together on a project, it was for World Championship Wrestling, which at the time started beating World Wrestling Entertainment at the time in the ratings. Mosh asked Eric what it’s like to be working with “The Hulkster” again, but this time on a non-WWE or WCW role. Eric mentioned that him & Hulk have been good friends for almost 15 years, and that Hulk, his partner (Jason Hervey), & himself have been talking about getting back into the wrestling business for while. He then added that they did not want to get involved again unless it had an opportunity to make a big impact & be different, rather than a failed attempt to be considered “WWE Light.
”

In promoting the upcoming first season of “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” both Blade & Mosh asked Eric what it was like to be able to work with “The Mouth Of The South” Jimmy Hart, “Nasty Boy” Brian Knobbs, & Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake again, along with the celebrity cast/crew involved (Dennis Rodman, Danny Bonaduce, Eric “Butterbean” Esch, Dustin “Screech” Diamond, Erin Murphy, Frank Stallone, Nikki Ziering, Tiffany, Todd Bridges, Trisha Cannatella, & Bubba “The Love Sponge”) with the show. Eric said that it was a huge surprise with what the concept of the show was about, which he then described. He said that both he & Jason have been very successful with reality shows the past couple of years (including VH-1’s “Scott Baio Is 45 & Single” & VH-1’s “Scott Baio Is 46 & Pregnant”), and that they have figured out the “reality formula” in regards to what the audience likes to see. He went on to say that the challenge in “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” was to create a wrestling based show that reality show fans would appeal to, while at the same time appealing to the wrestling fan as well. “Achieving those goals was a real challenge for us, and we were successful.
”

Eric went on to mention that celebrities have always been involved somehow in wrestling, and it has always been a big transition to get them to go from what they know (ex: football), to what goes on in the wrestling ring. He said that this was one of the concerns he had with the group of celebrities on this first season, in regards to how well they would be able to adapt to it, but he was surprised after seeing it work. He talked about the first episode & how amazed all of the judges were after just a day & a half of training. Eric then mentioned how hard the celebrities worked at what they did, instead of just “going through the motions,” which also surprised him.

Blade then asked Eric how they went about getting the cast of celebrities that they did & what he has to say to the people accusing the show of just being a bunch of “D-List” celebrities. Eric had a little laugh at the latter portion of the question, and mentioned that “Dancing With The Stars” is on network television, but do not have a lot of “A-List” celebrities. He then said that a reality show demands a long period of a locked timeframe on a set, sometimes months at a time, which very few “A-List” celebrities even have time for. He then added that after it was all said & done, and how hard the celebrities they used worked, he was very happy with it. The important thing he was looking for in this first cast was personalities, which is “far more important” than the list/celebrity scale they are on.

Blade asked Eric if it was a concern to them if the “spoilers” of the show were to be leaked with who won, since the show has been finished for a few months. Eric said that they tried to “keep it under wraps,” because it would have been disappointing if it was revealed beforehand, “but you can only do so much.” He said that the celebrities are also professionals, so they would not try to reveal anything too soon, and taking the “steam” off of the show is not good for anybody, “but certainly, it was a concern.
”

Eric then gave The Mayhem’s worldwide listening audience a little insight on the background of the show. He said that the celebrities were judged on several things, even though they did not have “Rey Mysterio-level matches.” Eric then said that wrestling is “an art form,” and compared an actor on a Broadway stage to a wrestler inside the ring, as both have to entertain the audience. He added that the celebrities were judged on how they used wrestling as an art form, how well they connected with the crowd, how well they sold moves, & used ring psychology — not necessarily “how well they did an arm drag.
”

Blade brought up the WWE’s/MTV’s “Tough Enough” reality series from a few years back & how “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” would be similar or different from it. Eric mentioned that he did see a few episodes of “Tough Enough,” and said that he does not think it lasted on MTV, because the WWE was “conflicted.” He said that by having a show on MTV that took people “behind the curtain” & somewhat exposed the wrestling business, it showed a whole new audience just how tough the wrestling business is, some of whom probably gained a little more respect for wrestling in general. But the “conflict” was that even though it has been revealed more to be “scripted” & “family-oriented,” they did not want people to know how it was done. He then summed it up by saying “they wanted to show people what it took to be a pro-wrestler, but they were worried about it exposing too much,” and he thinks it was the WWE’s decision to stop producing the show to avoid diluting the product. Eric said that “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” is different, because they have experience & understand a reality-based show, which the WWE did not have. He said that in reality television, in order to be successful you need drama, the ability to capture that drama & specific techniques to catch the drama. He then said the only way the WWE was “reality” in Tough Enough was the fact that it was unscripted, which “technically is reality, but there was no formula.

MyNetworkTV Delivers the Most Male Viewers in History of the Network and Tops All Other Broadcast Networks’ Friday Performance in M18-34

NEW YORK – MyNetworkTV was the king of the ring on Friday night as the most viewers in the history of the network tuned-in for the two-hour all-star debut of “WWE Friday Night SmackDown” announced Greg Meidel, president of MyNetworkTV. The network premiere also delivered the most M18-34 (1.2) and M18-49 (1.3) viewers in MNT history, as “WWE Friday Night SmackDown” won the night in the coveted M18-34 demo, besting the closest broadcast network competitor by +33%.

3.2 million total viewers (P2+) (1.9 HH rtg) tuned-in to the MyNetworkTV telecast of “WWE Friday Night SmackDown.” The Superstar-studded premiere garnered MyNetworkTV a 217% ratings increase in HH and 233% in A18-49 over the same Friday last year.

In making the announcement, Meidel stated, “The all-star kick-off of ‘WWE Friday Night SmackDown,’ on its new home on MyNetworkTV was a knockout. We look forward to the edge of your seat storylines and Superstar matches that the WWE has in store this season.”

For the first time ever on broadcast television, it was a night of Champion vs. Champion including a “Triple Threat Match” between WWE Champion Triple H®, World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho®and ECW®Champion Matt Hardy™ with Triple H coming out on top.

The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh were guests on Johnny Knoxville’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer” on Jackassworld.com.

The Great Khali was the special guest of Johnny Knoxville on his Jackassworld.com program, One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer, this week. But the former World Heavyweight Champion’s visit with the Jackass star quickly turned sour after an inappropriate comment, and he stormed off the set. (Watch Video)

Knoxville had many questions for Khali about life as a 7-foot-3 WWE Superstar. Through his translator, Ranjin Singh, Khali answered the majority of Knoxville’s inquiries, although the Superstar seemed agitated when the Jackassworld.com host called him a “giant” several times. Eventually, Knoxville took the conversation a little too far.

“Sometimes – this may be a little off-color – but sometimes when you see a – not a giant, I don’t want to make him mad – but a big guy, like yourself, you wonder if everything is in proportion. You know, like if your tallywacker is proportioned with the rest of your body, like if it’s normal size, or, or, or…” Knoxville asked Khali.

“The Great Khali came here, he came here for an interview, and it’s kind of turning downhill with these questions that you’re asking,” Singh replied to Knoxville.

Despite an apology by the One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer host, an angry Khali got up from the table, nearly flipped it onto Knoxville and left with an equally-annoyed Singh.

“If they’re going to be a baby let’s *bleeping* end it here,” a shocked Knoxville said. “I just asked him about his tallywacker!”

Many - if not most of you don’t know this but (just to clairfy), I have not been in retirement. Nor have I been on some long sabatical. After leaving WWE in January 2003, I went on to wrestle for two major companies in Japan. Most of the tours there were in the range of 2 - 6 weeks at a time with 1 - 3 weeks off in between tours. My last match in Japan was in May 2008. For obvious reasons, I’m relieved eveyone notices that I’m in pretty good shape with no ring rust at all. In fact, I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been and my technique and style have improved greatly over the last few years.

As I said previously, it’s great to be back and I’m very excited about my future with WWE.

Go Bears!

-John is in Australia to co-host the Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards this Saturday, where he’s nominated for the Fave Sports Star Award.

John will return to Australia next year for The Superstars of WWE RAW tour July 2009. Tickets on sale on 17th October from www.ticketek.com.au.
