Celebrity Matches at WrestleMania’s
The success of The Wrestler caused the WWE to acknowledge the movie and seek an opportunity to co-promote. For Mickey Rourke and Darren Aronofsky, Mickey’s appearance at WrestleMania XXV can only help to raise the profile of the film. Conversely, the WWE wanted to align itself with the Oscar nominated film about it’s own industry. The union seemed natural. Then Mickey called out Jericho on camera and people starting buzzing. During a interview on Larry King Live with Rourke Jericho appeared via satellite, attempting to play the role of the bad guy. Rourke demurred. Now, all we know is that Rourke will be in Houston. In what capacity, though, is yet to be seen. Rumors suggest he will just be attending, but I’m still holding out hope that he will climb into the ring, scale the ropes and drop a Ram Jam on Jericho.
