Noble, Edge: Time Off, Finlay ‘Living a Dream’

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

-Jamie Noble wrestled WWE developmental wrestler Jake Hagar in a dark match prior to last night’s SmackDown/ECW. Noble got hurt following a belly-to-belly suplex as he landed on his neck and upper shoulders. Took WWE officials three minutes to get noble backstage.

- The Sun UK has got an article on John Cena’s Injury. in the article states why WWe superstar Edge has taken time off:

Our source added: “This is why Edge is taking a few weeks off. He desperately needs to.

“His performances on the mic and limited actions kept him OK through the Hell in a Cell Match with Undertaker, but Edge is a man in a lot of constant pain, he just doesn’t want to give up his top spot right now.”

Here we go again. Can anyone say, “Airplane Ride From Hell part 3?” For some reason or another, YOUR Host of Hosts seems to always have the most awkward plane ride experiences that one could possibly have. So of course with that being said, YOUR Guiding Light is about to take you along for the ride as well.

It’s 5 a.m. in the morning and I’ve just awakened from a 2 ½ hour sleep following SmackDown/ECW, and it’s time to head to the airport. It’s bad enough that I’d rather remain asleep, but getting home sounds a lot more endearing. Once I arrive to the airport and check in, I have about 15 mins ‘til boarding. I decided to stop for a quick bite so that I can have some food in my stomach. (One should never fly on an empty stomach.) I go to the food counter where I stand in line awaiting my turn to order. Cade, ” Mondays are more Than Wrestling”

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Mondays are for Lance Cade, the best day of the week. I get to perform on the only show that I’ve ever wanted to be on every single week. Mondays remind me of the Monday Night Wars. What an awesome time to be a wrestling fan. I’ll never forget how such a diehard WWE fan I was, even when WWE was in second place. I did watch Nitro, but only on the replay at midnight. And, Mondays remind me of my early childhood of watching Prime Time Wrestling when it was so great to watch Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon in the studio between the matches. I could go on and on … Point is, I love Mondays! My first Monday EVER that I’ll be thinking of not only wrestling

Seems Like Old Times, Note on Wrestlers National Conventions and More

Monday, August 25th, 2008

“The past is not dead; it’s not even past.” — William Faulkner

I had the same feeling after attending last weekend’s NWA Legends Fanfest gathering in Charlotte.

For three days and four nights, wrestling fans were taken back to a time when their childhood heroes once again basked in the spotlight, relating old war stories that only seem to get better with age. Seemed like old times at Fanfest

-Interesting note that several WWE wrestlers are attending the upcoming Democratic and Republican National Conventions. It’s good that some wrestlers want to see the political process of selecting our Presidential candidates and not just do a drive by for a photo op even though there will be plenty of those. I’m not sure whos going where but I do know that Batista and President Bill Clinton would have a helluva time together considering they are both socially inclined. We dont’ do many politics on this site but I will tell you that Ihaven’t decided who I am going to vote for come November. Professional politicians who can’t even balance our country’s check book and who govern only to be re-elected and not to better our country have used up all their “passes” with me.

WWE at Democratic/Republican Conventions

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Josh Mathews will be WWE.com’s correspondent at the National Conventions. Shawn Michaels will attend the Republican National Convention, while Candice Michelle will be at the Democratic Convention.

WWE Superstars and Divas will be attending the Democratic and Republican National Conventions over the next two weeks as part of our Smackdown Your Vote! efforts to encourage more voters, ages 30 and younger, to vote in this year’s election.

Batista, Shelton Benjamin and Candice Michelle will attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver from Aug. 26 to 31. Shawn Michaels, Mr. Kennedy and Mickie James will attend the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., from Sept. 1 to 4.

On Monday, WWE will post its version of an online debate between Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain based on their written responses to Smackdown Your Vote!’s national 18-30 Voter Issues Paper (VIP), which outlines the critical issues and questions from younger voters based on national polling.

During the conventions, to promote voter registration, WWE will feed video footage from WWE Superstars’ activities at the conventions into WWE programming, and WWE.com will provide complete convention coverage. In partnership with Cable in the Classroom, WWE also will videotape footage for use in a series of videos for K-12 schools nationwide via Cable in the Classroom’s free, online learning game, eLECTIONS: Your Adventure in Politics. eLECTIONS is a standards-based election simulation being used in classroom’s nationwide featuring content from CNN Student News, C-SPAN and History Channel. WWE has already worked with one of its partners, University of Virginia’s Youth Leadership Initiative, to create curriculum materials for use in 8,000 classrooms based on the 18-30 VIP.

WWE also has created video PSAs featuring John Cena and Mr. Kennedy to promote a voter registration initiative with AT&T and Rock the Vote.

Following the conventions, WWE.com will continue to cover the election and encourage young Americans to vote. WWE Magazine, one of the most popular men’s magazines on newsstands, will feature WWE Superstars and Divas discussing the issues in the election in its November issue, which hits newsstands before Election Day.

This is the third presidential election in which WWE’s Smackdown Your Vote! has been active. The program has been engaged in national, state and local elections each year since 2000. In 2004, 20.1 million 18-29-year-olds voted, a 4.3 million jump over 2000. The turnout increase among the youngest voters was more than double that of any other age group. Young voter turnout is one of the top news headlines of 2008 with turnout doubling and tripling in early 2008 contests. Partners in the Smackdown Your Vote! initiative include Harvard University’s Institute of Politics, League of Women Voters, National Association of Secretaries of State, University of Virginia’s Youth Leadership Initiative, Sacred Heart University and Mobilize.org.

WWE Universe, stay tuned to WWE.com for complete coverage of WWE’s involvement at the upcoming Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Make your voice heard. Join WWE and Smackdown Your Vote! Visit SmackdownYourVote.com to learn more and register to vote.

-WWE has posted new rules for the Championship Scramble matches for Unforgiven.

The old rules stated:

He holds that designation until another Superstar scores a subsequent pinfall or submission on any other Superstar.

The NEW Rules states:

WWE Violance-Thin Line, Smackdown “Scramble”

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Is characterizing violence against women any different than actually hitting them?

WWE continues to walk that fine line, with Chris Jericho “mistakenly” punching Shawn Michaels’ wife Rebecca during Summer Slam.

Michaels would have agreed to allow his wife to be part of the storyline, knowing there would be shock value — and a future main-event match against the protagonist, Jericho. And I get that. The bottom line in wrestling is the bottom line. There’s not a whole lot of social conscience. WWE walks fine line on violence

-As soon as Mike Adamle announced on Raw Monday that there was going to be a five-man Championship Scramble for the world heavyweight title at Unforgiven, I’m betting that most viewers knew exactly who the four men were that would be challenging champion CM Punk. Excluding Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels – who will likely face each other at the pay-per-view – John Cena, Batista, JBL and Kane are the top stars on Raw, and, not surprisingly, they are all in the title match. Smackdown Scramble shakes up status quo

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

-In just two years, Kofi Kingston, the aerial specialist, was in the right place at the ring time and influenced the right people to stand where few have landed.

”I definitely feel it’s a great thing to be in WWE,” said Kingston, a young star on the rise. “There are a lot of eyes watching. Sometimes you’re given the ball, and it’s up to you to take the ball and run with it. I’ve been fortunate enough to be doing well.”

With the success, more and more fans know Kofi Kingston. Fast rise for high flying Kingston

- Gail showed up at Florida Chapionship Wrestling last night. Just as she arrived, she bolted immediately to the back but got caught by the fans. The fans chanted her name. FCW Results last night 8-21-08..here

Stone Cold, HOF Voting , Ron Killings Debut

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Ross is at it again for another entry, but this post in on Fans WWE Nation website. Here are a few thoughts from his post:

-Yours truly spoke with Stone Cold Steve Austin recently and Steve is still working out as diligently as ever but 3:16 fans don’t get your hopes of a “one more match” scenario for Austin. That is likely to never occur even though I would love to see it. However would WM25 in Houston, Texas be a good time and place for Steve to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? It seems as if there is no demand for out of shape action adventure, film stars which pretty much eliminates that vocation for yours truly’s post WWE life.

-Speaking of the WWE Hall of Fame, I would like to see WWE.com and its visitors to be involved in the voting for the Hall of Fame to some degree.

-R Truth is slated to debut very soon on Friday Night Smackdown and it seems as if there is an anticipation of such. What will call this young man, R Truth or once we get to know him can he be simply called “R”?
