“WWE Universe,? the 33-year-old Meadville resident told World Wrestling Entertainment’s chairman, when McMahon telephoned his home during a live TV broadcast Monday night.

Official Raw Pre-view: Street Fight begins as McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania continues

Friday, June 6th, 2008

raw6-16-08.jpg

On Monday night, Raw will make itself at home in Salt Lake City, as WWE Champion Triple H and John Cena continue to circle one another like junkyard dogs, spoiling for their title match at Night of Champions. This week, Cena will face Umaga in a Street Fight. Surely The Game will be watching as his Night of Champions opponent meets the Samoan Bulldozer on Raw.

Just two weeks ago, Cena defeated Jeff Hardy to become the No. 1 contender. Last week saw Triple H sweep Cena’s legs out from under him after the Chain Gang Commander’s victory over JBL. Then, in the night’s main event between The Game and Jeff Hardy, Cena interfered, causing Triple H to lose by count-out. With less than two weeks before Night of Champions, will anything keep these two fierce competitors from annihilating one another? Will Cena’s Street Fight with Umaga affect his strategy going into Night of Champions?

An appearance by Shawn Michaels on Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel quickly turned ugly when Y2J attacked The Showstopper. Their rivalry had been building for the past few weeks as Jericho alternately accused HBK of faking an injury and then encouraged him in a match against Batista. What is the purpose of the mind games that the Intercontinental Champion is playing with Michaels, and how will Michaels react to being attacked last Monday night?

Also last week, World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes suffered their second defeat in a row, this time at the hands of Umaga & Snitsky. While recovering after the match, the champs were again confronted by Raw’s newest Superstar, Ted DiBiase. The “simply priceless? DiBiase warned them that at Night of Champions, he and a partner of his choosing will prevail over the World Tag Team Champions. With the ongoing strife between Holly & Rhodes, will they be able to stand up to DiBiase and his mystery partner? And who will that partner turn out to be?

As temperatures run high on Raw, surely in the back of all the Superstars’ minds are thoughts of the impending WWE Draft. In less than two weeks, all Superstars from all brands will be eligible to be drafted to another show. Who will get selected to leave Raw and which of your favorite Superstars will begin appearing on Monday nights?

But, your biggest reason to tune into Raw this week is no doubt the continuation of McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania. The reports are all true: Mr. McMahon is giving away his own money. Just last week he gave away a cool $1 million, and he’s promised to do it all again this week. To get your share, all you have to do is register at WWE.com and tune in.

How to Win Vince’s Million

WWE chairman promotes `Raw’ with $1M giveaway

Associated press release:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Wrestling fans eager to get their hands on Vince McMahon’s money will have to jump through a few hoops first.

The World Wrestling Entertainment chairman announced during last week’s “Monday Night Raw” that he would give away $1 million of his own wealth to viewers, but he didn’t specify when or how it would be distributed.

The cash will be given away as part of a lengthy promotional sweepstakes, McMahon and the WWE told The Associated Press.

For a chance to win $1 million each week for the foreseeable future, viewers must pre-register on WWE.com and then watch the beginning of “Raw” each week to receive a special code, which viewers must tell McMahon if he calls them during the live broadcast.

The code will change each week of the promotion and will not be revealed until the beginning of each episode.

“People can view this as my own version of an economic stimulus plan to benefit our viewers,” McMahon told the AP.

While the USA Network series continues to be one of the most watched shows on cable TV, its ratings have recently declined. Last Monday’s episode received the lowest ratings for a Memorial Day broadcast in five years, according to Nielsen Media Research.

McMahon said his goal with the giveaway, which begins June 9, is to reward loyal “Raw” fans and draw new and former viewers back to the show.

USA is owned by General Electric Co.’s NBC Universal.

Khali HomeBound on May 12, Why Raw was Cut off Air-video

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

-DHARAMSALA: The Great Khali, a Punjab police sub-inspector, who has been on leave for the past three years, arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to a rousing welcome from his fans. But he is unlikely to report for duty anytime soon, as he will first fullfil his World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) commitments in Mumbai and Delhi. At new home, 8ft door for Khali to walk through

-A number of wrestling fans were left scratching their collective heads when Raw abruptly went off the air last Monday night.

With announcers Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler still calling the action, the screen went dark, then went to the opening of “Law and Order,” which follows Raw on Monday nights on the USA network.

While many viewers were confused and perturbed by the sudden ending, the finish ignited plenty of water-cooler conversation the next day. Some compared it to the infamous “Sopranos” fade-to-black finale, while others complained that it was a cheap, gimmicky way to spoil a quality main event. Revisiting old stunt could alienate WWE viewers
