During WWE’s recent Mexico tour, Mick Foley had the pleasure of helping make one young fan’s dreams come true.

Rosita, 11, from the Michoacán state of Mexico, has been sponsored by the SmackDown color commentator through Christian Children’s Fund for two years. Foley helped Rosita and her family make the four-hour trip from their home village to Mexico City to experience a WWE live event for the first time.

“I thought it would be such an incredible opportunity,” Foley told WWE.com. “I had done something similar in the Philippines with a girl I sponsor. It’s such an easy way to make a life-long experience for these kids I sponsor.”

It wasn’t the first time Foley met Rosita. Eleven months ago, he traveled to Mexico on a study tour, where he first visited the educational community center he helps fund. Seven months later, he returned to the site where he met Rosita, whom he had been sponsoring during that time.

Because she lives in a rural area and doesn’t have access to a television, Rosita didn’t know about Foley’s WWE Superstar status. After he gave her one of his action figures, Rosita couldn’t believe her sponsor was WWE’s “Hardcore Legend.”

“Since that time, she and her friends talk about lucha libre and WWE. But she had no idea, because there’s not a lot of television in her village,” Foley explained. “She met Superstars like John Cena, Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels and Triple H, and had no idea who they were until after the show.”

Foley plans to travel to Sierra Leone on June 10 to visit another child he sponsors through the Christian Children’s Fund. Foley has been sponsoring kids for 16 years and is presently sponsoring seven children. Stay tuned to WWE.com for more on the “Hardcore Legend’s” upcoming charitable global trips.

In support of the devastating earthquake that struck central China Monday afternoon, WWE is supporting AmeriCares in a major relief effort to raise donations and contributions for the ravaged nation. [Make a donation here.]

Within hours after the earthquake struck, the international relief organization began efforts to raise awareness and relief support for the areas in China most devastated. More information on AmeriCares and what you can do to help can be found at AmeriCares.org.

On Monday afternoon, a reported 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck the southwestern Sichuan province. To date, the quake is responsible for more than 12,000 casualties, injuring thousands more and leaving more than 25,000 people trapped in the rubble of schools, factories and other destroyed buildings.

WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio was in Xi’an, China, with his wife, Angie, for a media tour when the earthquake struck. Rey is continuing his tour to meet our Chinese fans, and wwe.com will keep you updated with more details during his trip in China.

-MEXICO CITY – More than 100,000 of our fans cheered for the Master of the 619 when he was featured atop a wrestling ring float in the city’s annual Children’s Day parade. The annual event takes place the Sunday before April 30, which is Mexico’s Children’s Day.

Rey Mysterio’s appearance was the highlight of this year’s parade, as many spectators wore Mysterio masks, T-shirts and held signs for the WWE Superstar. He was the most cheered for celebrity in the parade, and even had to stop signing autographs at one point because the crowd grew so large and the parade had to continue moving.

The Children’s Day parade features television stars, pop singers, well-known athletes and role models that are popular among Mexican children. The festivities begin at the Chapultepec forest area, a popular Mexico City landmark for kids. It runs along the busy Reforma Avenue, passing by important landmarks such as the Mexican Independence Monument and the Torre Mayor, the tallest building in Latina America, finishing in downtown Mexico City.

NEW YORK – Rey Mysterio helped raise $5.2 million for the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund last week at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The Master of the 619 joined celebrities such as 30 Rock’s Lonny Ross and Speed Racer’s Paulie Litt at the entertainment-filled fundraiser. Toys“R”Us’ 23rd annual charity gala was hosted by comedian Martin Short, and the night included a special performance by Grammy Award-winning singer, Barry Manilow.

The Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund benefit has raised more than $82 million since it began in 1985. The event is one of New York City’s biggest, single-evening fundraisers. Funds raised by the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund are donated to organizations dedicated to keeping kids safe and helping children in times of need, including the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Autism Speaks, Save the Children, Children Affected by AIDS Foundation, the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, to name a few.

Matt Hardy recently attended the 57th Annual Conn Smythe Sports Celebrities Dinner and Auction in Toronto. The Conn Smythe dinner is a fundraiser benefiting the Easter Seals Society, which assists families of physically disabled children with the purchase of costly equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, braces and communication devices. At the dinner, the SmackDown Superstar enjoyed meeting the 2008 Easter Seal Ambassadors, Julia Oliver and Sylvain Labelle, as well as fellow celebrities, including NFL Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Shaun Marcum and NHL Hall of Famer Johnny Bower.

On July 14, 2007 OVW have an 30 Man Battle Over-The-Top-Rope Rumble Match. Winner of this match would face WWE Champ John Cena. WWE, OVW, John Cena, Shawn Spears

John Cena is now a spokesman for the Make-A-Wish Destination Joy campaign.Destination Joy is the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s presented by LAY’S® campaign to motivate and sanction Americans time and god given talents to help grant wishes for life-threatening illnesses of children for the nexted four years.

The entire internet seems to agree that Monday Night’s Raw was, to say the least, a bit dull. One of the few things I did find interesting, though, was Mick Foley’s little appearance. In case you missed it falling asleep between all the other talkers, Mick was discussing the WWE and how they work with the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Apparently that’s not the only wish agency the WWE works with. They have also worked with the Starlight Wish Foundation, Kids wish and Dreams Come True.

Mick announced that on next Monday Night’s Raw, the WWE would be making one child’s special wish come true.

After Wrestlemania 20 in New York, the WWE announced what they called the, “Circle of Champions”. Every child that meets a WWE Superstar as the result of a wish made at one of the various foundations recieves a certificate that makes them a member of the elite “Circle of Champions”.

If you’d like to donate to the Make-A-Wish foundation, simply click on it and you’ll be directed to their main site, where you can make a donation that will help a terminally ill child recieve the gift of a lifetime.

The WWE has been granting wishes to children with life-threatening illness since 1982.
