Summer Slam Chat w/ Edge, CM Punk Charity Bowling

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

-On Fans.WWE you can ask Edge questions and the moderator, Corey Clayton will randomly pick the questions for Edge. Edge will answer your questions live on Summer Slam tonight. You can log on before the pay per view starts tonight at 7:00 pm eastern time..HERE.

-CHICAGO – World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk put his bowling skills to the test last week when he joined the fifth annual Kerry Wood’s Strike Zone Celebrity Bowling Tournament.

This year, the Chicago Cubs player’s bowling tournament benefited the Organic School Project. The organization’s mission states that it “seeks to transform Chicago-area children into healthier, more mindful eaters, one school, and one child at a time.”

“I think it’s a great cause. It’s important to teach kids early, so they can start making good food choices and counting calories at an early age,” Punk told WWE.com.

At the event, the Straightedge Superstar found himself with a team full of female fans.

“It was an awesome experience. Everyone who was bowling got drafted. I was drafted by Cubs’ baseball player’s wives. I was on team Estrogen,” he said. “We dominated early, but then we fell apart in the fifth frame. It was really fun.”

In between games, the World Heavyweight Champion hobnobbed with many local and sports celebrities.

“I talked to Kerry about if Mark Cuban will buy the Cubs. In fact Mark Cuban was there. He knew who I was and he greeted me and introduced me to his daughter Alexis, who knew who I was.”

Summer Slam 2008…My Thoughts

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Edge vs. Undertaker (Hell in a Cell Match)

This is going to be one hell of a ride. With the Undertaker making his yer another return debut, one can only assume that he is going to kik the HELL out of Edge. But what will he be wearing for attire. I think The Dead Man will be sporting his again Biker Look from before. Through the grapevine The Undertaker personna is getting to him and he seems he needed a much added switch-up. But Undertaker aLL THE WAY BABY!!!

WWE Champion Triple H vs. The Great Khali

Can Khali be once again Champ?? With Triple H being a dad for the second time, and his wife, Billion Dollar Princess, Stephanie I expect Triple H might lose the belt and get injured. This injury or some how out of action he can spend a little time with his kids. But why would WWE put Triple H against Khali, for a title push, so someone else could win the title…My predict to win, The Great Kahli. This is a long shot, but I’ll take a chance, hell I have been wrong before, ask my wife..”smile”.

World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. JBL

JBL has been scratching to get this damn title no matter what it takes. CM Punk is a great champ and things are going real well. From a stand point pf view, JBL doesn’t deserve the title , in my opinion. Punk is fresh and full of excitment and besides ratings are up and who else doesn’t like ratings, especially when they are up. My predict to win, CM Punk will keep the title for a little while longer.

ECW Champion Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy

At this bout, everyone would want Matt to win the ECW belt, remember this title is silver not GOLD!!! This would make a good storyline for Matt to wear the big man, Mark henry down. But I expect to see Henry retain the title, just to make sure Matt earns it the right way…lol.

John Cena vs. Batista

Does anyone care who wins. These two superstars could go one for hours keeping the fans to the brink of excitment. Both men have great attitudes and the love for the sport. Somehow I think that both men will come to a draw. Remeber I posted a little secret to this madness. Expect this to happen….

Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Jeff Hardy

Once again, Jeff is going to an another title shot. Lets hope this talented Hardy doesn’t do anything stupid again, just for his sake. But for this huge push, WWE is once again going to give him a title shot. my predict to win, Jeff Hardy..hopefully he keeps it this time.

Winners Take All Tag Team Match

This little inter-gender match is going to be different. But with a little notion I expect that Santino and the glamazon will snag the titles from their opponents, but with a little twist. Expect marella to win the womans title and the Glamazon to win the I.C. Title from Kofi. This excitment brought to the fans would make things interesting. My oredict to win Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix, with twist.

Shawn Michaels announcement

Shawn Michaels announcement could hold many options. Could this be the starting of his retirement? I expect this to somehow to be the same stipulations as it was with retirement with Ric Flair. But I think that is what WWE wants everyone to think. But then again, expect the un-expected.

Update on Jeff Hardy..will Compete at Summer Slam

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

-On an recent post I have told the fans that Jeff Hardy sustained an broken neck….WRONG. Up on a bulletin this was sent in:

UPDATE …

- From Cait: Just thought I’d pass along the information that over on the hardyshow.com message board the topic of Jeff Hardy’s “broken neck” came up. Tamran who is a reliable source of Hardy information said the following
“not true….jeff is injured, he’s having some elbow issues that’s why he was pulled off things this weekend. so he can be at the PPV on sunday.” This would make more sense, not sure why the store was telling people he had a broken neck.

Breaking News..Randy Orton will be at Summer Slam

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Randy Orton had an recent interview with The Daily Record while touring over in the UK. Read down on the interview and I have bolded the part of where he will make an appearance for tonight’s Summer Slam.

FACING off against a man called Randy who wears spandex trunks for his daily work sounds frightening enough.

But when the self same giant stares you down with the meanest, darkest eyes this side of Jaws, it’s either time to call an insurance firm or an underwear shop.

I had just made the mistake of challenging WWE wrestling superstar Randy Orton to show me his scariest moves, and he immediately showed just why he has been voted one of the best bad guys on television.

The Tennessee-born one time US Marine is a former champion of the American ring phenomenon and one of the best known villains of this theatrical sport.

He makes a living combining his huge frame with a steely stare and lots of general bad boy behaviour.

Randy took time off from his training programme to give the Daily Record an insight into his baddie persona, when he visited the UK to promote this weekend’s TV SummerSlam wrestling event, as well as their European tour which comes to Scotland this autumn.

Randy, 28, is one of the best loved (and hated) stars of the sport, and has thousands of adoring fans all over the world.

He has been out of wrestling action for the last two months following a broken collarbone, the result of a bout with rival Triple H.

But the wrestler revealed that the physical side of the sport is only half the battle, with showmanship and image just as important as the combat.

That is where the 6ft 5in giant shows the skills that have made him rich and famous.

When you speak to him out of character, Orton, who was born into wrestling royalty as the son of Cowboy Bob Orton, and with both a grandfather and uncle in the sport, is well spoken and friendly.

But as soon as he gets near a ring or training he becomes the guy who is currently up against Simon Cowell for best baddie in the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

HE said he would show me the secret to his showmanship style. I thought that would be pulling faces or an affected stare but he gets very scary, very fast.

“It’s all about being intimidating when you’re in the ring, and you can trash talk their appearance, their record or whatever, and stare them out or go right up to them,” he said.

“It wasn’t my decision at first to be a heel, because at first when the guys got to knowme, I had kind of an arrogant, narcissistic attitude, and I don’t deal with authority figures too well, and that translated into ring, so I became a heel.

“I can get 10,000 people to boo me if I drop a guy with a clothesline and drop my knee on the back of his head with a smirk and then it’s like, ‘aww, boo’ and you get with it.

“My goal is to get the best, or worst, reaction from them as I can.

Randy decided to get a reaction from me by challenging me to a test of strength. The test lasted all of five seconds as he was virtually juggling huge weights while I was requiring physiotherapy after trying to lift some tiny barbells and keep up.

We then gathered ourselves for a ring-style face off, and any doubts I may have had about just how intimidating he could be were excreted away, as he eye balled me with a serial killer stare.

I tried to bravado him back, but even though I wasn’t about to take him on in a ring bout and I knew for certain there was no violence on the cards whatsoever, but his constant growl made me flinch at first, before I was virtually leaning back at a right angle to get away from him.

Randy got his big break into wrestling after his military career ended badly.

He was dishonourably discharged from the Marines after disobeying orders and started making inroads into the world of wrestling in 1999 courtesy of his dad.

He quickly found a niche at the home of WWE, and after making his name as a baddie, he used his family background (his childhood home was a wrestlers’ hang out, with legends like Andre the Giant and wannabe Scot Rowdy Roddy Piper there all the time) and skills to carve out a successful career.

Since hitting the WWE big time in 2002, he has won four major titles and earned a huge fan base.

“I didn’t know what I was gonna do with my life, at first I tried the military, that didn’t go too well, so I asked my dad if he could call Vince McMahon and get me a job.

“It was really just out of desperation but it turned out I loved it and I was a natural at it, I got on TV a year and a half after I started training, took off from there.

“At first I felt the pressure (of the family name) but very quickly it dissipated because I did well and the stats show I surpassed my father in terms of ring stats and titles, so I was never really in the shadow of it.

“I pretty much learned things on-the-job and through practice and training, I was under the wing of people like Ric Flair and Triple H.

I learned a lot, and moulded my character into what it is now, figuring out what works, what doesn’t, and I got a handle on how to make the crowd despise me.

WORKING the crowds is one of Randy’s favourite parts of the job, and he said he can’t wait for the WWE UK tour in November, when he and his fellow grapplers will bring their pizzazz to Glasgow and Aberdeen.

“Whenever we go overseas, there’s a lot more excitement, and the crowds aren’t used to seeing us live, so they go crazy, which makes it all more exciting. The adrenaline gets pumping because of that energy.

“It’s nice to visit all parts of the world and witness different cultures, we’ve been all over, and being recognised is pretty cool.

“But I would say travelling and being away from loved ones is the hardest part of the job.

“I’ve got a newborn at home, it’s the first time I’ve been away from her and I miss her, but it’s what I do for living.

After his injury, Randy is missing out on wrestling in tomorrow night’s payper-view SummerSlam event, although he will be there to cause some trouble, so he is now really looking forward to the UK tour, and coming back to Scotland.

“I’ve been to Aberdeen and Glasgow before and it was great, I cant wait to come back.

“I don’t know about wearing a kilt. I don’t need to, I don’t necessarily want the fans to like me.

“If anything, I might call it a skirt, and say ‘do men wear dresses here’ and p*** them off a bit.

“I’ll do what I can to be hated”.

JR’s Take on SummerSlam and More

Friday, August 15th, 2008

From the land where people love’s J.R.’s Family Bar-B-Q Restaurants more than they adore Olympian Michael Phelps, your resident Okie has a weekly helping of SmackDown and some delicious “side dishes” for your sports-entertainment taste buds.

Raw’s John Cena and Batista are now not on the other’s holiday card list. There’s a significant physical confrontation between these two this Sunday at the 21st SummerSlam. This one won’t resemble a Funk vs. Brisco mat classic from the 1970s, and my best guess is that we are going to see a slobberknocker of a brawl along the lines of those of yesteryear in my hometown tavern on a payday Friday night. Predicting SummerSlam and more (Aug. 14, 2008)

HBK Huge News, Foley Gone, 9th Hell In The Cell

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Jim Ross is going up-up and away with his new look on his website JR’sBarB-Q.com. Here are a few excerpts from his entry…

-It will be great to see HBK at Summerslam but I fear what we might hear. Something tells me Chris Jericho is the kind of guy to make his presence felt. When is enough..enough? (as my thoughts, I believe HBK is thinking of “the road to retirement”, but with little stipulations to drag on for about a year, why else would there be a Shawn Michaels Announcement at Summer Slam)

-GM Adamle is doing a much better job than many predicted. Adamle’s 2nd show was another solid effort.
I enjoyed Raw from my hotel room in Norfolk where Smackdown will be taped for Friday night airing. No official word to me regarding Mick Foley’s physical condition so my friend Tazz might be sitting in again w/ yours truly this week. I prep the same way no matter who I work with so it will be another exciting final SD prior to S’Slam.

-How sad is it what the maniacal Edge did to “Mick-Kind” on the 10th anniversary of the most famous Hell in a Cell match ever? This will be Taker’s 9th Hell in a Cell match where brutality and casualties will be prevalent. EMT’s will be well staffed for Sunday’s Slobber-Knocker which seems like it should close the show. Or at least that’s one man’s opinion. We’ll have more on Summerslam later in the week.

Batista Re-Cap on Cena, Summer Slam Thoughts and more

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

The Main Event Wrestling Show with Dave Batista…at Mainevent.com

Q: Joining us today is Mr. Dave Batista doing an autograph signing here in Montreal and the GNC Supplement store and the line is going all the way down the street, hundreds of fans lining up to see the former world champion Batista, so without any further ado welcome to the main event, how you doing this afternoon?

A: I’m great, man. How are you guys?

Q: Doing very well thanks, First off, recently being drafted from Smackdown! to Raw, what was your reaction to that decision and do you have a preference between one of the two brands?

A: You know I was shocked, but you know the cool thing was at the beginning of that show Rey Mysterio got drafted over too and he’s a real good friend of mine and I’d follow Rey anywhere, so I knew that I was gonna have someone to go to battle with. It was just odd you know, I was leaving a lot of close relationships behind, had built a lot of good relationships on Smackdown. It really felt like I was leaving my family so it was a little bit difficult, and honestly I really don’t have a preference, but I do miss Smackdown.

Q: Well as mentioned the fans are lined up down the street they’re going crazy, and you’ve obviously started to get used to this by now but what’s one of the craziest things a fan has done when they got a chance to meet you?

A: (laughs) I’ve had some odd experiences with women. I think the funniest thing is always when moms will come in with their kids and the mothers will kind of throw themselves at me and it was just kind of awkward and embarrassing at the same time, but not a bad thing ya know.

Q: I’ve actually been reading your biography recently, how much work goes into a volume like this and I know you had some good stories about your mom in here if you want to share one of them.

A: (Dave laughs as the crowd chants “Cena sucks” in the backround) But the book, It was basically, I had a ghostwriter, a guy who wrote it for me and I basically talked to him for four or five days straight. I took him on the road with me. I wanted him to experience what our life is like on the road, and we also did a number of phone conversations. He also talked with my mom and people who are close to me. I don’t really have any particular stories about my mom, but I’ll tell you, my mom, people come up to me all the time and say, “Hey, Batista, you know I’m your biggest fan and I oblige them, but there’s no way, there’s nobody comes close to my mom. My mom is my biggest fan by far, she carries a stack of books and magazines wherever she goes and she’s just my biggest representative and my biggest fan by far.

Q: Batista you are here promoting Neutrobolics, You started in OVW back in the day and you hit WWE by 2002 and your headlining wrestlemania by 2005, a three-year journey, and looking back on it how did you feel about it then when it was going so quickly and how do you feel about it now?

A: It’s still something thats really hard for me to believe, and its funny because it seems quick when I think back on it now, but then it didn’t, it seemed like it took forever, But honestly I never thought in a million years that I would be headlining WrestleMania so its something I didn’t take for granted and I still don’t. Every day in this business is a blessing because you never know when its going to be over, especially for a guy like me who started out at 30 years old.

Q: Recently you worked what many consider one of the better rivalries in recent memories with the Undertaker. What is it like working with him in front of and behind the camera?

A: It was an incredible working experience, I learned a lot with Taker and I think that anybody who watched my work before, I can’t even tell you how much I improved, and also it was just something I enjoyed, Taker and I have a very similar wrestling style. He’s a lot more athletic that I have ever have or ever be, but you know a very rough style, a brawler style, and we compliment each other, and we were just magic in the ring, and the chemistry was incredible, and I’m prideful, and everyone knows that, but I think by far that its one of the best rivalries ever in professional wrestling, and I’m just happy that I could call the undertaker my friend. I’m very proud and I just love him to death.

Q: In the ring right now your probably the best you’ve ever been but back when you first tried out with WCW, you had a tryout with the Power Plant, they told you would never make it in the wrestling business. What was your thoughts at that time, and have you ever bumped into anybody from WCW at that time and made them regret ever saying that?

A: No I’ve never seen anyone, and actually it was one guy who said that. I don’t even know what his real name is, they used to call him Sarge.

Q : Sargent Parker?

A: Right he was a jerkoff, But you know I always wonder how much talent he actually chased out of that place because he had a Napolean complex. The funny thing is Chuck Palumbo was there at that tryout, he was going through the Power Plant at that time, and I don’t think he remembers me, but he’s really the only other guy I remember from WCW at the time. But the cool thing was, I always remember that Chuck was actually very positive going through the whole workout, cheering me on as well as the rest of the guys. But he’s just a positive guy. No, I’ve never seen Sarge, and I was upset for about a day before I was just pissed. I was just pissed off.

Q: This upcoming Sunday August the 17 its gonna be you Batista vs your current tag team partner John Cena in the annual summer extravaganza SummerSlam, what can we expect from that matchup between the two of you?

A: I don’t know. I’ve never really had a one-on-one. Cena and I went through OVW together and we had some singles matches but were both just different people from that time so I really don’t know. We’ve never really been one-on-one. I don’t know what to expect. I know he’s an incredible athlete and entertainer, but I don’t plan on being out shined by anyone so its gonna be a good one!

Matt Hardy Update - ECW Status and lots More

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Matt Hardy has updated his Myspace account. Here he talks about his current envolvement in ECW and his upcoming big event at Summer Slam.

August 8, 2008 - Friday

A brisk hello to all my MySpace pals..

Hello everyone! I hope all of you guy and gals are doing absolutely fantastic! I’m doing great. Life is better than ever. I hope each and every one of my cyberamigos can say the same.

Sorry for the lack of updates and consistent blogging on my page recently, I’ve been uber-busy, but in a good way. As you all know, I have the biggest match of my career coming up at Summerslam. I have a chance to become the ECW Heavyweight Champion as I take on the current champ, Mark Henry. It’s definitely gonna be an uphill battle, but I like the odds and pressure against me-it makes me perform better. And on top of that, I’ve got billions of MFers (Mattitude Followers) that have got my back and believe in me. That’s MUCH stronger than anything Mark Henry and Tony Atlas have to offer. I’ve seen a few “MATT FOR CHAMP” signs already, please keep the support coming. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my ECW experience thus far-it’s been an honor to be one of the high-lights of the show each and every week. Coincidentally, the ratings have improved by almost 50% since the Matt Hardy ECW era has begun, HAHA! Thanks for tuning in and supporting me every Tuesday night on Sci-Fi at 10 p.m.

On the Hardy Show front, things are better than ever. Here’s some cool HS stuff to check out..

Spoiler - More Matches for SummerSlam 2008

Monday, August 4th, 2008

With CM Punk in an handicap match against the tag team of JBL and Y2J. If any of the two, JBL or Y2J pin CM Punk, he is take on Punk at SummerSlam. If CM Punk wins, neither JBL nor Y2J has a shot at the title.

Well for an spoiler before Raw ends. CM Punk will face JBL in SummerSlam for the WWE Title.

Just announced on Raw this inter-gendre tag team match up. Intercontinental Champ Kofi Kingston will team up with WWE Womans Champ, Mickie James. Both titles are up for grabs as they take on WWE’s new heartthrob, Santino Marella with his tag partner The Glamazon, Beth Phoenix. If Marella or Phoenix pin either of their opponets the couvented titles will transfer to Marella being I.C. Champ and Phoenix, Womans Champion.

Don’t be surprise if they win and the titles get reversed having The Glamazon as I.C. Champ and Marella as the Womans Champion. I can see this happeneing for a good storyline.
