Mickie James SVR’09, Shane McMahon 4th Generation

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

-September 24, 2008 - As we pile drive one another here at the IGN LA offices, all in anticipation for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, IGN Stars takes a break from tossing metal chairs and polishing our champion belts to profile the latest playable wrestler. SmackDown Countdown: Mickie James Mickie gives good Hurricanrana.

-The McMahon family dates back several generations when it comes to promoting wrestling and boxing. With two McMahon’s named Vince and an illegitimate leprechaun in the family tree, sometimes it gets confusing to sort out who is who. Hopefully this will help.

Jess McMahon (1882 - 1954): Roderick James “Jess” McMahon is the patriarch of the McMahon family. He promoted boxing and wrestling at the third Madison Square Garden building.

Vincent James McMahon, (1914 - 1984):Commonly known as Vince Sr., Vince followed in his father’s footsteps and became a wrestling promoter. In 1963, along with Toots Mondt, he broke away from the National Wrestling Alliance and co-founded what is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment. In 1982, he sold the company to his son, Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

Vincent Kennedy McMahon (born 1945):
Vincent Kennedy McMahon is the man that wrestling fans refer to as Mr. McMahon. He revolutionized the business and transformed it from a northeast ‘wrasslin company to a global sports entertainment company. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

Shane McMahon (born 1970): Shane McMahon is the oldest child of Vince and Linda. He is married to Marissa Mazzola, a former co-host of the WWE program Live Wire. They have two children together, Declan James (born 2004) and Kenyon Jesse (born 2006). Shane is currently the Executive Vice President, Global Media, of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

-The Baltimore Sun, Kevin Ecks got an article up on anrecent interview with Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, Here as fgolloew:

-Tammy Sytch is considered by many to be the original WWE Diva. As Sunny, she was the top woman in wrestling during the mid-1990s. Since her release from WWE a decade ago, however, she has been one of the industry’s more controversial figures. After brief stints in ECW and WCW following her departure from WWE, Sytch has been a fixture on the independent circuit for the past eight years.

She appeared on Raw’s 15th anniversary show last December, which sparked rumors that she was going to be offered a WWE contract. Later, the buzz on the Internet was that TNA was going to bring her in to play Kurt Angle’s love interest. A job never materialized with either company. Q&A with Tammy “Sunny” Sytch

WWE thinking of Own TV Channel, 1st LOOK..WWE SVR 09 Infrno Match - Video

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

-It appears WWE is considering moving their 24/7 programming from an on-demand pay-per-view subscription service to its own television channel. Currently the company is doing a marketing study which is probably being done to try and present the cable companies with evidence that people will switch to or from satellite, based on the ability to see the WWE channel as a free service.

It’s known that Vince McMahon has talked about WWE needing its own TV channel for years now. One advantage of having their own channel would be if the USA Network or MyNetworkTV changed their minds on carrying WWE programming, wasn’t interested in anymore or had some sort of power shift, then WWE would have its own channel to air their programming on.

WWE Superstars in F.Y.E., GAB Update, Vicki-Edge Marriage Update

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

The ripped and tattooed wrestler Batista and the soulful R&B singer Ne-Yo have something in common: both star in new TV commercials that make the f.y.e. music and video chain seem a lot edgier.

In one 30-second commercial, Batista and another WWE wrestler, MVP, drop-kick and body-slam each other in what seems like an impromptu fight inside an f.y.e. mall store. Bass-thumping rock music blares as fans cheer from outside the roll-down security gate. Trans World embarks on pricey PR campaign to brand f.y.e. stores

- Here is an update on the Great American Bash matches:

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 DS

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, thus being the top-selling series makes it onto DS.

Expect wrestlers from John Cena to Finlay and Carlito. Everything in SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 is done via the touchscreen and stylus. Movement around the squared circled is automatic leaving you options to create moves against your opponent.
Image1.jpg
Instead of occurring in real-time, the action plays out in a version of turn-based wrestling. Before each move, there’s a short pause that enables you to select from three choices, which you execute by drawing the corresponding symbol on the touchscreen.

In terms of wireless multiplayer, local head-to-head matches are being promised for the game.

Smackdown vs Raw 2008 is soon to be released sometime in November.

One Night Stand Results

Monday, June 4th, 2007

ecwonenightstand1.jpg
Sorry, no pics this round - I’m getting high speed (FINALLY) on Thursday, though, so the next round will definitely have pics!

Match #1: Rob Van Damme VS Randy Orton
Stretcher Match

Orton goes right for RVD’s head, trying to worsen that concussion he got last week. The two keep throwing each other onto the stretcher, with Orton getting the most shots. RVD ends up getting Orton onto the stretcher and executes a beautiful Suicide Senton onto the stretcher, but Orton moved and RVD ends up hurting himself more than Orton! Right before Orton can roll the stretcher past the finish line, however, RVD manages to beat him back and onto the stretcher for the win.

WINNER: RVD

Orton decides to wreak his vengeance on RVD after the match his over - he ends up beating home down and into the corner ring post and the EMT’s rush out to help.

Match #2: CM Punk & The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer VS The New Breed (Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von & Matt Striker)

This is a tables match and the tables come out pretty quick. Within seven minutes, however, the “old breed” has kicked some serious butt for the win.

WINNERS: CM Punk & The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer

Match #3: Jeff & Matt Hardy VS The World’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin)

A nice long match for the world tag team titles that includes ladders! The Hardy’s speciality. In one particularly beautiful move, Jeff suplexes Haas off of the top of the ladder! Sweet! Matt manages to climb the ladder and get the belt for the win.

WINNERS: The Hardy Boys!

Match #4: Kane VS Mark Henry
Lumberjack Match

Pretty good match with some good “lumberjacks” in on the match - Henry, though, manages to get the big red machine into a bear hug that ends the match. The ref calls it when Kane is unresponsive.

WINNER: Mark Henry

Match #5: Vince McMahon w/ Shane and Umaga VS Bobby Lashley

Shane and Umaga do their best to take Lashley down in order to help Vince retain the belt, but to no avail. With a spear to Vince and a Spear to Shane, Lashley ends up getting his belt back.

WINNER: Bobby Lashley

Match #6: Candice Michelle VS Melina
Pudding Match

Yeah - sure - “match” - uh huh

WINNER: (heh - winner) Candice Michelle

Match #7: Edge VS Batista
World Championchip Match - STEEL CAGE

Definitely a good match - both Edge and Batista giving their all. Unfortunately, only one man can win.

WINNER: Edge via Escaping the cage

Match #8: John Cena VS Khali
WWE Championship - Falls Count Anywhere

A fairly short match for all that it was hyped up. They two end up brawling into the tech area with Cena giving an FU off of a crane for the win.

WINNER: John Cena

How many times will he defeat Khali anyway?

A fairly good PPV, other than the whole “pudding” thing.

Vince, survey says!!!

Vince McMahon is trying to fix wrestling. USA Network is scheduling a “Draft Lottery Special” on the Raw show on June 11 at 8:00 pm (1 hour earlier). The show will still run until 11 p.m. Raw, ECW and Smackdown will all be changed up after June 11th. Apparently Vince is not very happy with the ratings on any of the shows, and this is his way on trying to improve things.
