WWE Raw House Show Results - Macon, Georgia (7/17)

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

rawlogo.jpgWrestling News World reader Landon Lamb sent the following results:

Tonight I attended the Raw Summerslam tour they had at the Macon Centreplex. It was about three times better than the show they had here last time.

Exactly around 7:30 the lights went dark and the ref escorted the upcomming ring announcer Angela I believe to the ring. She didn’t sing the National Anthem, however the music was played.

First up: Evan Bourne vs. The Brian Kendrick.
Good amount of action, Evan got the win with the shooting star press. Nice pop for Evan, and good heat on Kendrick.

Second Match: Diva’s Tag Match - Maryse & Alica Fox vs. Mickie James & Gail Kim.
Gail is excellent in the ring, excellent moves, Maryse got the pin with a DDT on Mickie.

Before the Diva’s match started Angela(the ring announcer) said our host Kelly Kelly had a prize. Kelly was revealed in the upper deck’s, she said she had a WWE triva question and if the family got the question correct they would get a prize. The question: What is the next WWE pay-per-view. The family got it correct and they were awarded front row seats.

Next up, Match Three: Primo Vs. Carlito.
Primo comes out and cuts a promo on how Carlito betrayed him and gave him the backstabber almost two weeks ago. He told us he’s calling Carlito out.
Carlito comes out to very little heat, and the match is underway.
Primo got the win with a roll up.

Next up, Match Four: Chavo Guerrero Vs Kofi Kingston. (United States Championship match)
Chavo out first to a decent amount of heat, Kofi out next to an excellent pop. Note: The title belt looked like on of the cheap plastic ones you would purchase at the gift stand.
Kofi got the win when Hornswoggle interuppted the match and Kofi gave him the trouble in paradise.

Match 5: Santino Marella Vs .Jack Swagger.
Jack out first, with Santino comming out next to a good pop. Santino cut a hilarious promo on Swagger about how he was a bully in school, and how people used to call him a “Swagasaurus”. Santino got in some good offense, however after some goofing recieved the Gut Wrench powerbomb and Swagger picked up the win.

Match Six: Big Show Vs. MVP.
Big Show got the biggest pop of the night so far, and MVP got a smaller reaction. Show was having a hard time playing the heel, I saw him crack a smile due to the amount of cheers he was recieving. Horrible squash match, Big Show got the win with a chokeslam.

Main Event: Legacy & Randy Orton Vs Mark Henry & Triple H & John Cena.
Legacy out first to a good amount of heat, next out Randy Orton to a mixed reaction. Henry out next to a good face reaction. John Cena’s pop was ENORMOUS. The amount of cheer’s he recieved echoing in the colliseum made my left ear pop. Triple H out to a tad smaller pop than John Cena’s it was still quite loud.
Good amount of wrestling, hottest match of the night easy. Hot tag by Triple H to Cena set the arena on fire. Orton fell out of the wring and Triple H and Cena gave a Pedigree & Attitude Adjustment to Rhodes & DiBiase at the same time.

This ended out the night.

Biggest Pops in Order:
Cena’s - Deafening.
Triple H - A tad less Deafening.
Big Show - A bit smaller than Triple H’s.
Mark Henry - In between Kofi and Mickie’s.
Kofi Kingston - Good pop.
Santino
Mickie James
Evan Bourne
Maryse - Very little heat on the diva’s.

Biggest Heat:
Randy Orton
Legacy
Jack Swagger
Brian Kendrick
Carlito

Arena looked about 85% full which was MUCH more than last time.

After the show was over, Cena and HHH went around the arena giving high fives. I almost got crushed by John Cena fans when I was trying to exit.

Seth Green Blogs About Hosting Monday Night Raw

The following if posted on WWE Universe where Seth Green now has an blog:

So that happened…

Wow.
I can not believe that actually happened. I have been watching wrestling all my life, so guest hosting WWE Raw was a dream come true. But I never thought I’d actually be center ring with the biggest superstars of today!
Thank you so much to all of the people that cheered me on- I won’t lie, it was scary getting in the ring with Randy Orton and The Legacy. I felt pretty safe with Triple H and John Cena on my side, but when it was just me and Randy in there…let’s say I’m glad a kick to the gut was the worst I got.
That was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I used to practice my ’superstar moves’ on my sofa as a kid, and last night I got to do it for real. Unbelievable.
Thanks to everyone that came out and tuned in- I hope to see you at the Robot Chicken Skate Party when we come to your town! Check out AdultSwimPresents.com for more details!

JR Says” Lawler will Quit WWE, If He becomes Mayor”

Friday, July 10th, 2009

lawler_ross

Jim Ross has posted the following on his JRSBarBq.com about Jerry “The King” Lawler running for Memphis Mayor. Lalwer will be quitting the WWE, because the mayor’s position is an full time job.
It looks as it the King is actually going to run for Mayor of Memphis as a special election is apparently going to be held in Memphis in about 90 days. The position of Mayor of Memphis, Tennessee is a full time position and one cannot hold another job, as I understand the matter. Jerry has often talked seriously, yes we did talk seriously on occasion on our many, many road trips together, about how he would like to do something positive for his hometown. Jerry certainly isn’t running for Mayor for the pay day but as an old school, public official who genuinely cares for his hometown and wants to make it better for all who live there. I heard an interview that the King made on a Memphis radio station where he talked about the grueling, weekly travel we undergo about 51 weeks a year for WWE and how that can wear on a person. ( I can definitely relate to that.) Point being is that Jerry has been announcing on Raw since 1994, with the exception of a short interruption in service along the way, logging some staggering miles. Plus, the King will be 60 this year and I can easily see Jerry Lawler being at the right place at the right time of his life to be a galvanizing force for the apparent racially divided Tennessee city of Memphis.

I had some fun on one of my blogs earlier in the week about King NOT running for Mayor. However, after communicating with Jerry, seeing how serious he is about making a difference in his hometown and his desire to help all the people of Memphis, I not only endorse Jerry’s candidacy but am very proud of him for wanting to do such an honorable thing for the people of Memphis. Jerry Lawler is no professional politician (My gosh I’m tired of political pros) and will likely not even raise significant money to fund his own campaign (which might prove to be his downfall). Jerry will also not be controlled by special interest groups. If the people of Memphis feel that they are tired of professional politicos and want objectivity and a fresh approach to improving their city, then why shouldn’t Jerry Lawler be considered as a serious candidate? Unfortunately, the person who spends the most money on TV/Radio ads will likely get elected which seems to be the norm in today’s political world and that’s a damn shame.

For Monday Night Raw fans, if Lawler wins the Memphis Mayoral race he will have to come off Monday Night Raw which would certainly end an amazing era that started 15 years ago. Jerry and I had approximately 12 great years together sitting at ringside every Monday night during the hottest period ever in WWE but as in all phases of our lives things change.

WWE Raw House Show Results in Sydney, Australia (7/4/09)

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Wrestling News World reader Mat Morris sent in the following:rawlogo.jpg

Event - WWE Raw Live
Location - Acer Arena, Sydney, Australia
Date - July 4, 2009

The show began with a recap of Wrestlemania 25 and promoted this release on DVD and Blu-Ray.

The Raw Theme plays out and we are brought into the show with a fireworks display (a fairly new addition to Australian shows).

Tony Chimel is the ring announcer and introduces out first match.

Match 1 - Goldust vs Chavo Guerrero
It was a huge surprise to see Goldust on this tour. He came out to a fair ovation followed by Chavo who got some cheap heat by threatening fans. There were numerous ‘Chavo’s a wanker!’ and ‘Chavo’s a p$%@#’ chants as well as some ‘Goldust’ chants.
The match ended with Hornswoggle appearing from under the ring and helping out Goldust. Hornswoggle even hit Chavo with the ‘Tadpole Splash’ (Frog Splash)
A pretty cool way to start the show.

Tony Chimmel then throws to Micke James who is up in the nose-bleed sections with a family of 4. They are asked a trivia question - ‘What is the next WWE PPV?’. The family answers correctly and is moved to front row seats. (A fair few boo’s from the crowd)

Match 2 - Sheamus Vs Jamie Noble.
Sheamus comes out and talks trash about Australia. He teases NSW for their lost against Queensland in the State Of Origin (NRL/ Football) 2 weeks ago and gets a bit of heat.
A very boring match and I cannot even remember the winner.

Match 3 - ‘The Brian Kendrick’ Vs Santino Marella
Santino comes out to a HUGE pop! A lot of slapstick humour during the match and no high-flying moves at all from Kendrick. Santino takes the win.

Match 4 - The Miz Vs MVP
The Miz comes out to a lot of heat. He talks about it being the 4th of July in America and how Australian’s should respect him for being in our country on that day. He then calls Australian men ‘Chubby Chasers’ saying we all have brought our fat girlfriends and wives along. When he takes his shirt off to bgin the match, he throws it in the face of the ring girl.
The Miz wins the match with a roll-up after throwing MVP into the exposed turnbuckle.

Match 5 - United States Championship Match - William Regal Vs (C) Kofi Kingston
Regal receives a lot of heat. ‘You Suck’ chants get his attention and he grabs for the mic. He responds with - ‘I can’t possibly suck. I’m not an Australian!’ (The exact same line he used in 2007.)

As this is a house show you can guarantee Kofi will retain his title. And he does after a high kick to the face!
After the match Regal gets up close to the fans. He stands yelling at the same person for about 2 minutes before finally making his way up the ramp.

Intermission

Match 6 - Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase) vs - Carlito and Primo
Before the match Cody argues with a fan and jumps the railing. They really got under his skin!
The match is fairly entertaining and Legacy win with Cody covering Carlito.

Match 7 - WWE Divas Championship - Kelly Kelly Vs (C) Maryse
The most boring match of the night. Maryse didn’t even seem interested or like she wanted to be there. The match ends with Maryse hitting a big DDT on Kelly to retain.

Tony Chimmel is back once again to promote Night Of Champions on PPV and John Cena’s 12 Runds on DVD. He then tells the crowd that they have set a new record for a WWE Event in Acer Arena, Sydney with an attendance of 18,543 fans.

Now it is time for the main event for the evening.

Match 8 - The Big Show and Randy Orton Vs Triple H and John Cena
A very entertaining match. John Cena spent most of the match in the ring, only tagging in Triple H twice. Triple H hit his patented high knee, facebuster and spinebuster while John Cena hit the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and even an STFU on the Big Show! The match ended with Triple H and Cena reversing Big Shows double chokeslam into a double suplex. Then cena hit Big Show with the FU (Attitude Adjustment) which was followed by a Pedigree for the win.

Randy took off up the ramp pretty quick while Big Show slowly made it back to his feet. Big Show stood dazed while Triple H waved his hand in front of his face and claimed ‘You Can’t See Me’. Cena then did the same. Cena and Triple H then looked at each other, then looked at big show and did a double ‘You Can’t See Me!’

Big Show (still dazed) was swaying around and looked to be out on his feet. Triple H gave Big Show a Finger Poke Of Death and Big Show hit the ground.
Cena and Triple H then got the crowd going with a Hulk Hogan style Cheer-Off. Cena then left the arena while Triple H spent another 10 minutes walking around the ring shaking fans hands.

Final Verdict - The show was not the best Live WWE event I have seen. The whole show was saved by the main event.

Biggest Pops -

1. Triple H
2. John Cena
3. Randy Orton
4. Santino Marella
5. Kelly Kelly

Biggest Heat -

1. The Miz
2. Chavo
3. William Regal
4. Sheamus
5. Legacy
