The Soup: WWE Raw Million Dollar Giveaway - 6/13/08
– Vince McMahon will be giving away yet another Million Dollars on next week’s show. Based on the official contest rules for Week 2 of Million Dollar Mania, there will be 8 prizes given away with the grand prize for next week being $300,000. Here is the complete prize info:
-One (1) prize, consisting of three-hundred thousand dollars ($300,000 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
- One (1) prize, consisting of one-hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
- One (1) prize consisting of one-hundred seventy-four thousand nine-hundred eighty four dollars ($174,984 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
-One (1) prize consisting of one-hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
-One (1) prize consisting of one-hundred thousand dollars ($100,000 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
-One (1) prize consisting of seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
-One (1) prize consisting of fifty-thousand dollars ($50,000 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
-One (1) prize consisting of sixteen dollars ($16.00 USD) to be awarded in the form of a check.
-The ratings are in for the June 9th edition of WWE RAW and it’s not good news for WWE. With all the hype over Mr. McMahon’s Million Dollar Giveaway, this week’s show drew only a 3.03 cable rating, according to data compiled by Neilson Media Research. This is down from last week’s 3.06. This week’s show did hourly numbers of of 2.97 and 3.09. The quarter hour numbers ranged from 2.82 to 3.21.
WWE chairman promotes `Raw’ with $1M giveaway

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Wrestling fans eager to get their hands on Vince McMahon’s money will have to jump through a few hoops first.
The World Wrestling Entertainment chairman announced during last week’s “Monday Night Raw” that he would give away $1 million of his own wealth to viewers, but he didn’t specify when or how it would be distributed.
The cash will be given away as part of a lengthy promotional sweepstakes, McMahon and the WWE told The Associated Press.
For a chance to win $1 million each week for the foreseeable future, viewers must pre-register on WWE.com and then watch the beginning of “Raw” each week to receive a special code, which viewers must tell McMahon if he calls them during the live broadcast.
The code will change each week of the promotion and will not be revealed until the beginning of each episode.
“People can view this as my own version of an economic stimulus plan to benefit our viewers,” McMahon told the AP.
While the USA Network series continues to be one of the most watched shows on cable TV, its ratings have recently declined. Last Monday’s episode received the lowest ratings for a Memorial Day broadcast in five years, according to Nielsen Media Research.
McMahon said his goal with the giveaway, which begins June 9, is to reward loyal “Raw” fans and draw new and former viewers back to the show.

Still Champ HHH starts off raw saying that the Age of Orton is broken, as if it never existed. Orton is gone and who is next? The man-slut himself, John Cena comes out and asks HHH one question – “Are you ready?” HHH said, “if you want some, come get some”. Hardy’s music plays and out comes Jeff Hardy, who says that he’s in line for the title as well. He believes that the fans want to see, for the first time ever, Jeff Hardy VS John Cena. McMahon comes on the Titontron and announces it will be Cena VS Hardy and the winner will take on HHH at the Night of Champions.
Match #1: Mr. Kennedy VS Umaga
Match was supposed to be against Paul Burchell, but he claimed that he had to help his sister, Katie Lea, get ready for her first match, and so he had lined up Umaga to go against Kennedy. Kennedy attacks Umaga’s injured stomach. Kennedy lying against the announcer’s table when Umaga jumps off the ring, Kennedy moves making Umaga hit the table with his injured abdomen. Umaga gets counted out.
WINNER: Mr. Kennedy
Burchill comes out and gives Kennedy a swinging neck breaker.
Vince McMahon graces the audience with his presence and explains about his Million Dollar Mania. He loads $1 Million dollars into a clear plastic box and explains that you have to register at wwe.com in order to win the million. He says that he is doing it in order to bring in new people, as WWE relates to the Americana in all of us.
*did a little snooping and here’s how the Million Dollar Mania works – you go online and register, leaving your phone number there as well. During the broadcast they will be showing secret codes and will be calling a list of randomly selected people who have registered. If they call you and you pick up, you have to be able to tell them the secret code that just aired. If you’re not there, or if you can not say the secret code, you do not win your prize. There will be one $250 Million dollar grand prize, two $200 Million dollar prizes, and a few other prizes getting rid of the million, including a $2 “sixth” prize.*
Match #2: Santino Marella and Carlito VS Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes

Piper distracts Morella and Hardcore gets him in the Alabama Slam. Carlito kicks Hardcore with Santino, who rolls up Holly.

Match #3: JBL VS Y2J Intercontinental Title Match
Action taken outside of the ring as JBL grabs the chair and punches the ref. The ref calls for the bell. Y2J kicks JBL and he lands on the chair by the throat. Jericho grabs the chair but doesn’t use it. JBL is bleeding from the mouth has Jericho walks away with the title.
WINNER: Y2J by DQ
Match #4: Beth Phoenix and Katie lea VS Melina and Mickie James
James goes for a DDT but Katie throws Mickie. Beth hits Mickie from behind and goes in for the pin.

Cade with a sitting powerbomb.

Cena goes back to check on Mickie James and says that he wants to apologize for the gossip that is going around. He gives Mickie something and says that she forgot it last night – its her panties! She goes off to get checked out by the doctor while
Cena downs an energy drink.
Match #6: Jeff Hardy VS John Cena
Jeff Hardy jumps off the top rope for an across the body rollover. Cena picks up Hardy and puts him in the FU for the 1-2-3.

HHH comes out to congratulate Cena on his win. It will now be Cena VS HHH at Night of Champions on June 26th.

Bubba the Love Sponge said on a recent on air show, that he was asked to participate on Hogan’s Reality Wrestling Show. But was unable due to extreme work ethics and time needed that he could not afford to lose.
Bubba claimed that the wrestling coaches for the two teams were former Nasty Boys, Brian Knobs and Ed Leslie, aslo known as Brutus “The Barber” Beefacke.

-WWE Smackdown announcer Jonathan Coachman’s contract is set to expire within the next few months. Speculation has been going around that Coachman could leave the company for a full-time job with MSG Network.
Although Coach could potentially leave the company,Vince McMahon wasn’t please with the way Coach’s has been with his performances on the air. Coach knew for sometime that he wasn’t a good announcer and that he has been taking abuse from McMahon over the years. This is why Mick Foley is now a Smackdown commentator.

Past rumors have stated that the baby professional wrestler Paul “Triple H” Levesque and his wife Stephanie McMahon, 31, are expecting at the end of July is a girl. However, the 38-year-old dad stated that wasn’t the case in a new interview.
We don’t know what it is, we are going to wait and be surprised. Not a lot of surprises left in life, you’ve got to take them where you can.
The interviewer also asked Triple H if he was hoping that the baby would be a little boy. To which the WWE Raw Superstar replied,
You know, its funny. I would take either one. As long as the baby’s healthy, and I know people say that all the time. Having a girl now, if I had another girl I’d be thrilled. At some point I would like to have a boy, and hopefully I can at some point, but it doesn’t have to be this one. And my wife wants to have like five kids. [laughs] She better do it soon, I’m getting old, I won’t be able to remember their names.

With Stephanie Levesque (minus the McMahon, okay people lets not confused the unborn child) recently working on her second child, yup she is pregnant ( I can say this cause I have two kids of my own).
Shane McMahon has been working alot more with the creative team and the media aspects of the company. Shane has been throwing in ideas to help motivate the company into this years to come.
Shame has been credited to the Mayweather-Big Show deal that is lotted for Wrestlemania. Shane came up witht he recent tour in South America and hope on getting a tour going into China. With what China has got to offer to the U.S., potential is a definate.

Rey Mysterio underwent surgery today to repair his torn biceps. Instead of working with WWE surgeon Dr. James Andrews, Mysterio has opted to undergo a new procedure by a surgeon in in San Diego.
The rehabilitation time is said to be as short as six weeks, whereas the traditional surgery he was originally slated to have performed by James Andrews would have kept him out of action for up to six months.
Unfortunately for him, even a 6 week recovery time will keep him out of action for WrestleMania.
Update on Hornswoggle WWE.com:
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Following JBL’s savage, brutal attack on Hornswoggle during Raw Monday night, doctors feared that he had suffered severe trauma to his spine, WWE.com has learned.
At first, specialists believed that the nature and severity of Hornswoggle’s injuries were different and focused on other potential signs of trauma. When he showed little to no movement after 6-foot-6, 290-pound JBL repeatedly rammed the 4-foot frame of Mr. McMahon’s illegitimate son into a steel cage Monday night on Raw, physicians suspected that his back may have been broken.
However, as of Thursday morning, WWE.com reporters were told that Hornswoggle’s condition has begun to show slight signs of improvement. His mobility has been limited, but doctors say he has been able to wiggle several toes.
At this time, it does not appear that Hornswoggle has incurred any long-term damage, but doctors will continue their assessment throughout the evening and into the weekend. With additional testing, specialists hope to identify a more discernible recovery time for Hornswoggle.
