Florida Championship Wrestling Results for July 2nd - Pre Taped

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

fcw-logo

Pre-taping match:

Wes Brisco pinned Aiden Frost with a roll-up. The match was so-so at best. The crowd was solidly behind Brisco. Frost has wrestled better before.

Taping results:

Episode 1:

Duke & Bo Rotundo defeated Mr. Tarver & Dylan Klein. The Rotundos are quite green in the ring and will take some time to develop. This match was really nothing special.

Gabriel pinned Vic Adams after a reverse Alabama Slam in a decent match. Adams is over with the FCW faithful. After the match Gabriel cut a promo talking about dropping the DJ persona and getting a second chance to win gold in FCW.

FCW General Manager Abraham Washington (w/Fletcher Chase) came out and announced he would make history with the “Grand Royale” (yes, that roy-ale like the way Vincent Vega describes the French version of the quarter-pounder with cheese in Pulp Fiction). He then introduced Alex Riley (w/Beverly) and announced that Riley was the number one contender for the FCW Heavyweight Championship. FCW Heavyweight Champion Tyler Reks and his attorney, Dawson Alexander, Esq, come out for a photo shoot. The camera flash blinded Reks and Riley attacked him. Riley ended up kicking the title belt out of the ring and into the guardrail, almost hitting a fan.

Joe Hennig pinned Lance Archer? (the former Lance Hoyt) after a Perfectplex while Archer was seated on the turnbuckle. The match itself was slow and seemed to plod along which is understandable since it was Hennig’s first match in several months. It picked up in the end right before Hennig crotched Archer on the top rope and hit the perfectplex while Archer was seated on the turnbuckle. The crowd was glad to see Joe back in action.

FCW Florida Tag Team Champions Trent Beretta & Caylen Croft defeated Kris Logan & Justin Angel when Beretta pinned Logan after a springboard DDT. This was probably the best match of the night for the second week in a row. All four of these guys really worked hard and set a really fast pace. If these guys were allowed to put on the same match on WWE television you might be looking at a promising tag division.

Episode 2:

Johnny Curtis pinned Krisotf Hertzog (Chris Raaber). This match saw Kristof get a busted nose which might have led them to have an average match, at best.

Kris Logan (w/Justin Angel) vs. Caylen Croft (w/Trent Beretta) was interrupted by Abraham Washington (w/Rosa Mendes) who added their respective tag partners into the fray to make a tag team non-title match. Logan pinned Beretta with a backslide. Another very good match but not quite as good as the match they had some 30 minutes earlier.

Sweet Papi Sanchez defeated Mr. Tarver following a splash in the corner and the big boot. Nothing stood out in this match. Tarver knocked Papi out following the match with a right hand.

Donny Marlo (the former Agent T) defeated Fred _______ with a Samoan Drop. The crowd was absolutely dead for this match. Fred, making his FCW debut, didn’t look too bad but since neither character is an established face/heel, no one knew for whom to cheer.

FCW Heavyweight Champion Tyler Reks defeated Alex Riley (w/Beverly) by DQ when Riley hit Reks with a chair. The match was quite good with all kinds of back and forth action. The crowd was all over Riley.

Episode 3:

This was a hot start with almost the entire FCW roster outside the ring. The rules of the TNA-eqsue Grand Royale were explained. Every wrestler had one minute to climb into the ring – those that did not make it into the ring were eliminated. Those who made it into the ring fought each other in a battle royal to determine the winner. The order of elimination for those who made it into the ring are as follows: 1) Bo Rotundo 2) Lance Archer 3) Gabriel 4) Dylan Klein 5) Sweet Papi Sanchez 6) Ricky Ortiz 7) Yoshi Tatsu 8) Justin Angel 9) Dawson Alexander Esq 10) Joe Hennig 11) Caylen Croft –The Winner—Johnny Curtis

FCW General Manager Abraham Washington came out to congratulate Curtis on the win, said that they have never seen eye-to-eye but he respects him for winning the first Grand Royale and was adding him to that night’s FCW Heavyweight Title Match between Tyler Reks and Alex Riley.

Grand Royale Notes: This match concept was straight out of TNA. Several tag teams fought each other out on the floor instead of both getting into the ring to battle it out later. The final 4 (Dawson, Hennig, Croft and Curtis) took forever – I am guessing there is going to be a commercial in there somewhere. Certainly not the greatest of battle royals – very little drama.

Brett DiBiase pinned Dylan Klein with a roll-up. This match was totally one-sided with Klein doing some damage to DiBiase’s ribs. After a barrage of forearms to the ribs, the ref threw up the “X” which brought a trainer from the back. DiBiase gutted it out and let Klein pound the crap out of him until he was able to roll-up Klein after a pin attempt. The crowd was solidly behind DiBiase but the booking in this match made little sense.

FCW Heavyweight Champion Tyler Reks pinned Johnny Curtis with a roll-up to win a triple threat match that also included Alex Riley (w/Beverly). This match was very good. Curtis dug deep into his arsenal of aerial moves, Riley played an excellent cowardly heel and Reks was the glue that kept the match together. Solid outing by all three – I would not mind having to see more of it.

Notes:
FCW returns to Lakeland on 7/11 with Dusty Rhodes and Steve Keirn singing autographs
FCW debuts in Punta Gorda on 7/15
This week must have been “roll-up” week in training since several matches ended with one
Only two referees (Mahoney & Zapata) worked the entire the show
Angela Fong did the ring announcing
Dusty Rhodes & Bryon Saxton did commentary

Biggest Pops:
Brett DiBiase
Tyler Reks
Joe Hennig
Kris Logan & Justin Angel

Most Heat:
Alex Riley
Trent Beretta & Caylen Croft
Lance Archer
Dylan Klein

Batista in Neighbours - Video, Florida Championship Results 6-25-09

Friday, June 26th, 2009

batista14

-Here are the following results of yesterday’s Florida Championship matches:

Big Papi Sanchez pinned Kristof? (aka Chris Raaber) with a splash. This match was fairly sloppy with one blown big boot spot in particular.

FCW General Manager Abraham Saddam Washington made an announcement that there would be a historic announcement at next week’s television tapings. He them introduced Alex Riley (w/Beverly) who beat Bo Rotundo. This match wasn’t pretty either but Riley was solid as a heel and Beverly was smoking hot. Also, of note, former TNA referee/wrestler Shane Sewell was the referee for this match.

Troy Jackman (w/Fletcher Chase) pinned Vic Adams. Adams was decent but Jackman is still green; nothing too special here.

Ricky Ortiz pinned Expiera? (aka Sicodelico) after he reversed a flying crossbody. This was Ricky’s first match in the FCW Arena as a heel but most of the fans still cheered for him. He also did not throw out the towel like he usually did; instead he choked the former Sicodelico with it.

FCW Florida Tag Team Champions The Dude Busters (Trent Beretta & Caylen Croft) defeated Justin Angel & Kris Logan when Croft rolled up Logan and held the tights. This was far and away the match of the night. All four men worked really hard and I could see them all called up at some point. Really solid stuff.

Rosa Mendes pinned Alicia Fox in one ugly match. The pinfall might have been a blown spot when Miss Angela, the ring announcer, failed to push Rosa’s (the two are feuding) feet from the ropes when she pinned Fox. Not a good match by any means.

Dawson Alexander, Esquire pinned Dylan Klein after a spinebuster. This match was not that good either. I have seen both men have better matches, especially Klein who I consider one of the up and comers at FCW.

Ezekiel Jackson squashed Yoshitatsu. Not much to write about here other than that Jackson looked good again.

Drew McIntyre & Sheamus O’Shaunessy vs. a returning Joe Hennig & Gabriel was turned into a fatal four-way by FCW General Manager Abraham Saddam Washington. This was a really solid match with all four men working hard. Sheamus got the pin on Gabriel with a neckbreaker. Joe looked solid in his first match at the FCW Arena in several months.

FCW Florida Heavyweight Champion Tyler Reks pinned former tag team partner Johnny Curtis to retain the title. The crowd showed the duo with “Team 4:20” chants before the match. Team 4:20 is what the FCW crowd affectionately dubbed the pair during the tag team title reign. The match started slow and it appeared they were building something special but it never really seemed to get into gear. About 5 minutes into the match Curtis slapped Reks after Reks had offered his hand. Curtis wrestled heel the remainder of the match. Solid but I expected more from these guys given what I have seen from them in the past.

Also, Dory Funk Jr. was among those in attendance.

- Angela Fong from FCW developmental is back on the road this weekend working the Raw shows. She is being groomed as a ring announcer.

angle-on-set-of-warrior-Kurt Angle did an interview on Detroit radio on Friday pushing Slammiversary. He talked about having two years left on his TNA contract but revealed he would be open to one last run with WWE before he retires. “I can’t tell you where I’m going to be in three years. I’d like to be in TNA, but I can’t guarantee it,” Angle said on Sports Radio WDFN. “If I could have one last run, heck, I’d do it. Yeah why not?
Rumors are going to be flying now that Kurt Angle wants to go to WWE…
That’s completely untrue, I am very happy where I am, but I will never say never.” The next day in Grand Rapids at the house show, Angle, well, didn’t say never, but did say, “Vince McMahon can kiss my ass!” Angle was on the mic after the show and made it clear he intends to stay with TNA.

WWE Holds Try-Outs, WWE Getting NEW ECW General Manager, McMahon’s Millions

Friday, May 1st, 2009

-WWE developmental promotion Florida Championship Wrestling is holding tryouts today at the training center in Tampa, Florida. The promotion is charging $1,000 for independent wrestlers who signed up for what is billed as a “talent evaluation clinic.” The event is being run by FCW head Steve Keirn, and trainers Tom Prichard, Billy Kidman, and Norman Smiley.

tiffany-s3

-Tiffany shouldn’t get too comfortable with her role as Interim ECW General Manager as there is already talk of replacing her in the near future. A lot will hinge on what Tommy Dreamer decides to do.

His is contract is legitimately expiring in a few months and there is talk of making him the General Manager of ECW should he decide to re-sign with the company.

Internally, the feeling is that she isn’t projecting well enough in her role as a result of her poor delivery on the mic.

-F4WOnline.com reports Vince McMahon currently owns 60% of WWE stock, which as of last weekend, would have been worth about $478 million.

WWE Releases Talent and Gives His Side of the Story

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

patrick-brinkWWE has released developmental wrestler Patrick Brinks former Kaleb O’Neal in FCW. Brinks posted this on his Myspace account giving his side of the story on why he was released from WWE.

So I wanted to post this myself so that everyone can hear the truth from me. I was released from the WWE today March 7, 2009 after 6 months and 22 days of being in the developmental program FCW. It did come as a shock to me.

Things were going really well. I have learned so much in the last 6 months that I am light years ahead of where I was when I got here. I can only say thank you to Steve Keirn, Tom Prichard, Dusty Rhodes, Billy Kidman and Norman Smiley for everything they have taught me. If you factor in my time with Team 3D, my time in developmental and all the trials and tribulations that 2008 dealt me, the leaps and bounds I have grown as a person and a wrestler are immeasureable.

Although I find the reasons I was released to be complete B.S. I am still thankful for this door closing for now because I know that ten will open. Most of you know I showed up here out of shape and had to get back in shape. From April of last year until August I lost my 15 year old sister, my grandmother and 3 of my friends. I even lost one of my best friends since the age of 14 a week before Christmas. All this after losing my father in 2007 as well. I never made an excuse to them and I got back in shape losing 47lbs in 3 months and still changing my body to be one of the best in the entire WWE. I received praise from my peers, but more importantly my superiors for working so hard. However I guess that was still a strike against me despite my personal issues.

So with all that said this past December while in the midst of one of my best friends passing, I had my family members decide they wanted to pay for some tattoos to be added to my forearms. Let me point out I already had tattoos on my forearms and I just wanted to add detail to them. Well as a WWE employee you are not allowed to get tattoos without permission. I spent 12 days trying to get permission only to find out the person who needed to give me permission was out of the country and wouldn’t be back til I’d no longer be able to get them. So I got my tattoos anyway figuring I would get permission because of what they were. Well when my bosses got back I immediately told them I had already got them. I was told that I probably would’ve gotten permission but since I didn’t wait I was suspended for 6 days and fined 1000$. Let me tell you when you make 500$ a week and can barely get by, that kinda fine will cripple you.

After that issue blew over I went back to training and applied myself as hard as I possibly could. I was getting alot of positive feedback from all my trainers and from my superiors. After looking at some recent pictures of myself in comparison to 6 months ago I decided to ask my bosses for permission to seek a supplement endorsement to help me out financially. This past tuesday I strained my right quad at practice and am currently being treated for it. It’s not that big of a deal and I’ll be better in 14 days or so. I actually left the emergency room on tuesday evening, drove an hour and a half in rush hour traffic home and went to the gym for 3 hours. I spoke to my bosses on wednesday and was told that I was being given a pay raise to 750$ a week. They told me to heal my injury, get better and get back to training safely. I was scheduled to start rehab the follwing day which was yesterday.

I got up yesterday morning and went to the gym so that I could get that out of the way before going to rehab since we had a show last night. I used mapquest to get directions to the place where I would be doing rehab. When I got to the exit on the highway my directions told me to take, it was closed because of construction. I had to drive 7 miles down the road to get off on the next exit and there was no return for the highway I was on. I have been here for 6 months but still do not know my way around here completely. I don’t have time for anything but wrestling so why would I? It was ten minutes before I was due in to rehab so I called them and told them the situation. I was told to get there as soon as I could and they would see me. I ended up being 30 minutes late.

I got up this morning once again to go to the gym before I went to rehab. I got a phone call from my bosses right as I finished working out. I was aksed why I was late to rehab yesterday and I told them what you just read in the last paragraph. I was told it was an excuse and it was unacceptable. I was told that I have now been given too many chances and that I’m unprofessional. I was told that I have all the potential in the world and they know I will be a star some day. Then they told they were letting me go until I can be more professional.

So there you have it. I was let go for a combination of showing up out of shape back in August when I went through what most people wouldn’t have come back from. I got tattoos added to my arms where I already had tattoos back in December that made the tattoos I had better. And top it off with me being late to rehab for physical therapy due to traffic. I am truly grateful for the opportunily I received with the WWE. I can only thank them for allowing me to finish rehab on my quad and taking care of it. And they are gonna pay me for the next 90 days which is a blessing. I am going to take the next 90 days to clear my head and spend some time with my family and girlfriend. I am going to move back to Orlando and resume training with Team 3D as soon as I’m allowed to. I have made numerous friends and connections in the business in the last 14 months. I will have several doors open to me. I will figure out what the best one for me to take is.

I promise all of you this is just a small bump in the road and not the end of the world. I’m not upset and I respect the WWE and their decision. I love you guys from the bottom of my heart and I’ll be kicking ass again in 90 days.

JR on Next Generation Wrestlers, HELP OUT JR, Smackdown Update Prior WM and More

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Jim Ross has posted an update on her personal blog. Here are a few highlights:

JR talks about second generation wrestler in WWE developmental training grounds, FCW: FCW has a roster dotted with famous names like Brisco, Rotunda, DiBiase, Hennig, Darsow, among others all of whom have a chance at making their families proud of their pro wrestling accomplishments. If this group isn’t rushed, they have the chance to be one of the best groups the WWE has trained. I spoke with them about he value of financial planning, conducting themselves as professionals and being respectful, trustworthy businessmen, becoming true students of the game via DVD study and reading books on the business.

(Why is WWE interested in these generation wrestlers. These next generation wrestler have been through it all. They know what their fathers have endured on working in the wrestling business, what to expect and have general knowledge of wrestling. Vince likes this as an easy out for his WWE talents. Little to no training involved. This is why WWE was interested in Robert Roode in TNA. Roode is the son of WWE legend “Ravishing” Rick Roode. This being said he knows the ropes)

Good ‘Ol Jim Ross has made comments on “other” wrestling websites that use his personal words for columns in their websites. These “wrestling blogs” should HELP out Good ‘Ol JR: There should be a rule that all the wrestling websites that use our content as the sole source of a column should be kind enough to buy a bottle of JR’s Original BBQ Sauce or at the very lest some 97% Fat Free Beef Jerky. Come on…spend some of that cash…brother here needs new shoes. I know this may be the pot calling the kettle black but some of the photos of the authors they could use some 97% Fat Free Jerky plus our sauces are healthy too.

JR an corporate “yes man”:As I have said before, I am kissmyassclubreally looking forward to that night. Of course being a corporate “yes man” and God knows that there aren’t many of them in this business plus a charter member of the Mr. McMahon “Kiss My Ass Club” what would one expect me to say?

An Smackdownupdate prior to Wrestlemania:The bouts for the Smackdown that air the Friday prior to Wrestlemania will be taped that preceding Monday in Dallas during the final Raw before WM 25 but there will be other SD elements done at Axxess but those are still under consideration. Bottom line is to get your tickets for Axxess as you don’t know who you might see there or what could occur. READ THE FULL BLOG>>>>>

Val Venis 1 of 60 Laid-Off, Two WWE Developmental’s Released, Bischoff “Choice Words” for Matt Hardy

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

-The PeterBorogh Examiner is reporting that local resident, Val Venis is one of sixty employess laid off yesterday in the WWE. Val Nenis, aka Sean Morley has been with the company for 11 years. To read the article, GO HERE>>>>

-Wrestlingobserver.com is reporting that WWE has released two developmental talent Mike Mayo aka Mike Kruel and Ronnie Arniell aka Gavin Spears.

-Former WWE General Manager, Eric Bischoff has a few choice words for ECW’s Champion Matt Hardy:

ON MATT HARDY’S RECENT REVIEW OF “THE WRESTLER”

Matt, you are a friggin goof. Lets set aside the fact that your brother is walking a “three strikes and you’re out” tight rope as a result of his drug abuse, and if internet “news” was accurate, suffered the loss of his home and property due to a fire because he was too irresponsible to insure it. Your recent recap of your “lifestyle” frames you as a candidate to the Jake Roberts Hall of Fame. Your suggestion that you and your generation are “smarter and more responsible” than previous generations of wrestlers makes me sick. You are a mid-card talent that should be grateful to even get a check every other week. Enjoy it while it lasts. And rather than looking down your nose at previous generations of professional wrestlers, donate a portion of your check to one of them and ask them to point out all the parallels between your current career path/lifestyle and theirs.

It would be the smartest and most responsible thing you could do. You can read the full blog post here>>>
