Brian Pillman- Not Just a Legend
Brian William Pillman born May 22, 1962 started out in a career as a porfessional football player.
Pillman started playing football for Miami Redskins as a Defensive Tackle where he attended college at Miami University.
In 1984 Pillman was indrafted to the Cincinnati Bengals, where he became a hometown hero in Ohio. During Pillman’s career in pro-ball he begun his abuse of drugs, steroids and painkillers.
After pro footbal Pillman began training for his wrestling career under legedary promotor Stu Hart and sons. Brian wrestled in the Dungeon, a place that the weak and faint of heart dare not tread.
Pillman wrestled under his real name in Stampede Wrestling. Through his Stampede wrestling he teamed up with Bruce Hart and formed a tag team “Bad Company”, taking on tag teams of all kind.
1989 Pillman joined World Championship Wrestling under the name “Flyin Brian”. This was because of his atheletic ability and high aerial manuevers that made him stand out from others.
As a singles wrestlers Pillman fueded with Brad Armstrong, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, Richard Morton, Scott Flamingo and with Barry Windham as the masked Yellow Dog.
Through his WCW days he formed an successful tag team with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Hollywood Blondes.
WCW was an Era that made Pillman stand out for whom he really was, Talented and full of wrestling drive like no others man even in todays era of wrestling.
In ECW he perfected the “loose cannon” gimmick which later went on to WWF.
In WrestleMania 13, Pillman alligned himself with fellow canadians Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, and Jim Neidhart, formed the new Hart Foundation. A gimmick that was anti-american. Pillaman wrestled through out his career with the Hart Foundation.
On October 5, 1997, Brians Pillman was found dead in his Minnesota hotel room. He was 35. While he had a documented history of abuse of prescription drugs, an autopsy found that a previously undetected heart condition - arteriosclerotic heart disease - had led to his death.
PWI ranked him # 84 of the 500 best singles wrestlers of the PWI Years in 2003.
PWI ranked him # 50 of the 100 best tag teams of the PWI Years with Stunning Steve Austin in 2003.
